Dealer fit options?

Have a 4GC coming in December and I’m wondering what accessories you’d recommend? It’s only a 420i msport, white with coral red seats and Msport+ pack. Thinking black grilles is enough - black mirror caps would be nice but they’re expensive and I do t know if they are compatible with folding mirrors (with surround view cameras)?

Almost think the all-black grilles should be standard on msport

Anything else that’s a nice cosmetic tweak to have done?

Aren't black mirror caps a no cost option?

Is it too late for you add the b58 option?

What colour ia the car?

I think the m performance pack (front splitter, rear diffuser and side blades) really sets it off.

Is that the bigger engine? Honestly i’ve Loved my 6-cyl BMWs but the modern 4-cyls are perfectly fine. More than enough power for day to day use and efficient enough for trundling up and down the M4

Yeah, I agree. I have the same car and although a larger engine would be fun I'd struggle to use the power with the amount of speed cameras and traffic about. I've had fast cars before and find it quite frustrating not being to let rip with the full amount of power.

In any case the 420i isn't exactly a slouch and there's more than enough power to obliterate the speed limit and exceed speeds that are safe on the road.

Looking at the sudoku puzzle that is BMW options, it seems like it’s only a (no cost) option on non-MSport cars. Not available on msport at all which is odd

A few inexpensive additions, my thoughts in potential cost:-

- £120 Black grills on white looks great
- £250 Black or CF mirror caps, full dealer price is too much though, negotauate hard or go eBay route. It's fine that the mirrors are folding. Also the caps are the same for 1/2/3/4 series
- FOC DIY I'm always keen to take off that horrible massive yellow airbag sticker inside the cabin on the passenger sun visor!
- £240 M Performance vinyl on the rocker panels, looks very nice on white in combo with grills or other black bits. Strong suggestion to only have dealer fit, bit of nightmare DIY
- £1200 OEM M performance wheels, cost less than you think to change as you sell on eBay your cars wheels
- £Priceless Eyelashes in the headlights

One of the above isn't quite a recommendation and obviously not all of them but that's a good starting point.

Agreed - the M Performance body kit will set off a white 4 Series nicely. So nicely in fact that BMW UK use that very car to show it off on their performance accessories page.

where is the M performance body kit? closest I can see are the "Essential Exterior Styling Pack" which is just grilles and spoiler, and the "Pro Exterior Styling Pack" but that includes wheels which I don't need as I have the Msport+ option already.

also the accessories packs don't have prices listed against them

Generic term is M Performance Body Kit but generally refers to black grilles, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, front splitter, side sill decals and side sill trim (sometimes called rocker covers for some reason). This link gives a better idea and includes pre-discount prices (column 2) - https://www.baronsgroup.co.uk/bmw/ac...e-styling-kits

Obviously you pick & choose what bits you want.

No obligation to fit any of it, just indicates what's available - so down to personal choice.

well none of it makes a 440i any faster either - its all just eye candy

As mentioned earlier I find the 20i engine is just fine as a daily driver, but I always buy msport as I much prefer the look of it. This is just more of the same.

I'm not spending £2.5k on a full kit though - thats silly money. I may just stick with grilles and mirrors for now.

You could probably get it for £1800 if you asked nicely...

Other options are a carbon rear spoiler with the gloss black kidney grilles for around £400 - admittedly the bulk of that being the carbon spoiler.

Go to eBay and this drops to £300 for genuine bmw parts. I’ve bought a rear diffuser, carbon front splitter, gloss black grills, rear carbon spoiler and sill decals. All this came to the grand total of £995!

It's the 40i engine yeah.
It's not just the power it brings (although it is mighty), it's the smoothness of it. Silky... And when the rev climbs, it can howl...

That aside, you are already in for the 20i and I'm sure it will service all your needs. They are not slow by any stretch and from the inside, it's no different to the bigger engined models. Enjoy her when she arrives!
