Intermittent solid brake pedal
This is a bit scary.
You hit the pedal and nothing happens! Luckily it has happened at low speed, but this could have been fatal. I called BMW assist , and because it's an intermittent fault they wouldn't come out! The woman on the phone was really obnoxious too. This on top of the fuel leak, the first week of ownership has not been a good one. |

If it's a new car, or an approved used and you've only had it a week, they should be taking it in to investigate.
I don't believe they wouldn't to be honest. |

If it can't be fixed here, they will take it to the dealership and get me a hire car. As long as it gets sorted, I'll be happy. |

I just began having this happen to me again. I initially thought it was air in the line due to bleeding without running the abs module. I had the brakes bled a while ago using ista to activate the abs module during the bleed. After that the intermittent pedal feel went away, and the pedal felt nice solid and responsive. As the weather has gotten colder, I have had days where the pedal is nice, firm, and responsive; but the next day, the pedal will be mushy and really lack luster. Not sure what's going on here. Going to re bleed and see where it takes me.

If it is lack of assistance, does the pedal feel solid when you apply the brake to start from cold, say overnight? That will give a clue to losing vacuum. Certainly needs investigation if it loses vacuum intermittently while driving. |

BMW have just been out and cannot find a fault. That's the problem with intermittent issues. I've been out and it feels fine, but I have lost faith in the car. Gonna consider my options. |

They do indeed. I'm sat here thinking long and hard about sending it back.
It's looking like the best option at the moment. It's sad, but for a 2018 car, it's not the situation I want to be in. Back to AutoTrader then! |

It's been a hard and very reluctant decision, but it's going back. I need to have full confidence in the car. I had also noticed a small amount of overspray around the fuel filler, and the BMW assist guy mentioned that both front and rear bumpers had been off.. So, I think its probably the right decision to send it back. |

Sounds silly, but have you checked all your wheels are tight? Iv seen it before inconsistant pedal feel on a new and used car that they have had the alloys off to refurb and didnt tighten the wheels correctly and were loose.... I know bmws have them little screws that hold the disk on but it might be worth a look, i know the ecu can store a fault for pedal movement exceded.

Searching the internet has brought up several similar experiences, but no definitive answer to what or why this is happening. |
