M Performance tailpipe mod
I've finally got around to buying the twin tailpipe M Performance mod for my 320d.
It should make the exterior of the car look much better. I've also gone for the non-difuser bumper trim. I really can't see how BMW justify the ridiculous cost for it and it's not even painted so €65 for the regular twin pipe version is fine for me. I plan to fit this myself so is the old pipe easy enough to remove with a hacksaw? Obviously I'll seal with exhaust paste around the clamp but is this mod pretty straightforward to do at home? |

I just bought one of these to cut the old pipe off. Here's hoping it works!!!

Just installed this on my F30 320d pre-LCI.
Absolutely one of the best cosmetic mod around for a single-tailpipe F30 IMO. It makes the tips looks more aggressive than the 328i or even the dual tips on the F10. I would recommend you to visit a exhaust workshop to get the job done. The exhaust pipe is very very tough lol, and you kinda need a welding machine to secure the tips properly after you tightened the clamp. All in all, if I have to be frank about it, this tailpipe mod is more worthwhile than any of the interior carbon fiber nonsense lol! |

Unfortunately it didn't show up in the RealOEM.
The 320d GT also doesn't seems to have any accessories/retrofitting. But I guess you can always take a look at the exhaust tips of your 320d GT and see if it has the same layout as the F30/F31? If the part numbers don't match it could be a risk as your exhaust system may no match the required layout.
Perhaps you could take a photo of the underside of your car? Also you need to keep in mind you need the trim too but if it's a single pipe you have, you may be able to modify it but I can't really say how good that will look.... There's always an option. Anyway. I just had a notification to let me know my kit is now in Madrid and I should get delivery tomorrow. Looks like I'll have a weekend project on my hands so long as my exhaust pipe cutter turns up! |

So, I received my exhaust tip yesterday. It looks amazing but no install instructions!
Can anyone tell me if there is an install guide and how much do I have to leave on the existing exhaust box to connect the new tip? |

So! After a bit of a long afternoon, I got the exhaust fitted.
So this is before. Excuse the car being so dirty. This is what a week of commuting does.... I was going to wait until next week to take it to my mechanic but I thought I could do this myself First things first. I removed the trim. This was nice and easy to do. Just 7 bolts. Two 8mm and five 10mm bolts. I started with the exhaust cutter but that was a pile of absolute shite so that's getting returned to Amazon. Shame on Draper for selling such a pile of shit. (The oil is WD40 to lubricate the blades slightly but that didn't help) I went to my local hardware store and picked up a dremel and some metal cutting discs and a hacksaw. Job done! I cleaned up the edges slightly but since it's not seen, I don't think it's much of an issue. After attaching the exhaust, I struggled a bit with the 15mm bolt as my socket was a little shallow. After tightening slightly, I reattached the trim to help align everything. I then tightened up the bolt and voila. Job done! Now off to the car wash! |

I've been looking to do this mod as well but the cost of the diffuser part isn't very appealing. The insert trim for the rear bumper, the black part that goes on the bottom of the bumper, did you just buy the corresponding part from a 330d? And if so, do you per chance know the parts number. From looking around, I guess you need part # 51128054198 but I don't want to order without knowing for sure. |

Quick delivery and no delays. I agree it's a little tricky and if I were to do this again, I would probably buy the right-angle tool for the dremel. There is very little space for cutting the pipe properly with the dremel, hence using a hack-saw to finish it off. Using the right-angle accessory would have allowed me to cut the whole pipe with the dremel. Another option would be to remove the exhaust from the rubber hangers holding it in place but I couldn't for the life of me work out how to remove them! Either way, it's not a tough job to do. You just need to be a little patient and take your time when cutting the pipe. Once you make that first cut, there's no going back and you cannot reattach the old pipe! |
