Question *FirstPost* New Summer/winter Rim/tire help - 335xi Msport

Hello everyone!

I've read the forum for years, watching the various builds and troubleshooting issues. It has been an invaluable resource!

Now for my question I could really use some insight and knowledge on.
I have a 2013 335i xdrive sedan Msport, which I have few basic mods done with plenty planned. But as of this morning I've had enough of my rims.
A previous owner switched out the OEM rims for the BMW select 361 staggered 20's. From what I can tell this is the only version of the f30 they fit on due to the xdrive lift. They look amazing, are cake to detail and I love them. Unfortunately, I live in NJ, and work Teladata in the union. The road conditions in my area, commute and work site parking lots have made me want to go down to 18's.

Now for the goal.
1: Both summer and winter tires have fit over Msport brakes(GREY) as well as keep the same rolling geometry / no spacers (anyone who has stomached a transfer case replacement understands this ).
2: Go down to staggered 18's for the extra performance/weight/sidewall protection from NJ on summer set.
3: If possible, go +5/10mm wider to eat up the ugly tire stretch for a more squared track tire look, if it won't cause rubbing.
4: Cheap options for staggered 18's that fit the above, for winter set.

The current 361's specs are as follows

Rims:

• Front: 8Jx20 ET36

• Rear: 8.5JX20 ET47

Tires:

• Front: 225/35 R20 90Y

• Rear: 255/30 R20 92Y

And I am running Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires.

The 313's are the same specs, except the sidewall spec is as follows.
225/45ZR18 :F
255/40ZR18 :R

The rims that caught my eye are the BMW 313's. They have the correct offsets and bolt pattern, but are 18's. From what I can tell they will fit over the M-sport brakes if they are the Grey ones that use the smaller roter, unless someone can tell me different? This will add a substantial amount of sidewall. Now is if it has the possibility of +5/+5mm or +10/+10mm width increase on that rim without rubbing.

I am not really versed in searching for aftermarket rims, so figured the 313's are a safe bet for at least one of the two sets i need. But ideally the summer set I want to be lighter than the heavy 361's.

Sorry for the long post and rambling, but any help and insight would be greatly appreciated.

for winter i suggest used OEM square set 18x8 ET34 400M or 397 with 225/45/18 or 235/45/18 winter/snow tires of your choice. these are often listed in facebook marketplace, craigslist, ebay and our own member classifieds...
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/fo...play.php?f=448

for summer, OEM sizes 225/45/18 & 255/40/18 will obviously work, however consider 235/45/18(26.3") & 265/40/18(26.3") for more grip, better ride, impact protection and reduced fenderwell gap. it'll look slightly beefy. MPS4S comes in both staggered size combos.

flow formed aka rotary forged wheels provide the best balance of weight, strength and cost. approximate widths and offsets for looks and performance are 18x8.5 ET32ish front, 18x9.5 ET42ish rear.

off the top of my head these light flow formed wheels come to mind...
1) Beyern Ritz, 18x8.5 +35, 18x9.5 +45, load rating 1825, 21 lbs, very strong and light
2) Stance SF03, 8.5"& 9.5" in custom front and rear offsets made to order
3) Forgestar F14, 8.5" & 9.5", custom offsets made to order.
4) Apec EC-7, 18x8.5 +35(or 9" +31, 235 will be lightly stretched) & 18x9.5 +43

Thank you for the suggestions! Can't wait to get off work and check it out.

Two more questions. Going +10mm on the width will fit without rubbing? Feel like I've seen a few posts of people running those staggered widths stock but can't find them on phone.

Second, forgive my ignorance on it, but is there a reason to not keep the width for the winter set? Why go narrower?

if the offsets are near to what i've specified, there won't be a problem with +10mm width and 0.3" diameter increase. interference problems occur when the difference from OEM is too great. too low = outer tire shoulder rubs fenderwell liner at full lock, too high and inside tire contacts the strut mount or strut, or spokes hit brake caliper.

typically a narrower tire works better cutting through and not riding on compacted now, however there's an argument that snow tire technology has advanced to where wider is okay. a square tire set is cheaper and easier to deal with although it may not look as nice in appearance. then again, i don't think people are looking at your wheels when slush is slung up the sides and there are icicles hanging from it, anyhow. here's an example...

if you have other wheels in mind, post them here and i'll give you my thoughts on them.

The 313's are the exact same specs as the 361's I have now other than height. So that's good to hear I can squeeze and extra 10mm on the 8/8.5 rims.
I think I'm going to run the 313's for this remaining season, then swap them to winters and look at the aftermarket options for the summer set.

The snow argument now makes me wanna look into this, I could see the value in either standpoint. I know on my old Celica with its narrows it was unstoppable in the snow between those tires and its weight.

if your 313 rear is 8.5", 265 is outside the recommended rim width. you could probably force it on but the sidewalls will bulge a lot and it will feel a bit sloppy. i recommend sticking with oem sizes 225/45/18 & 255/40/18 on the 313's.

Yeah I saw that on tire rack listing the 265 being 9in min. Then stock widths it is for now.
