330 all the way buddy. get yourself some good winter tyres from the money you save by having no x drive and that will see you through the times you are in Scotland

The 330d is a great bestie.

I would not worry about DPF blocking with your usage. You seem to do regular long runs, which will naturally regenerate it.

My test drive seemed to show oil temperature shown at about 3 miles, full temp at 6. So, your work run will be terrible fuel economy. However, longer runs will be a fantastic mix of power and economy.

Enjoy your test drives...

Just been reading the update thread, great even more choices .....

Originally I had thought of a GT and went to pre launch event, nice couple hours in the rain with a 2.0 gt auto.

However, as it looked like would only be the 2litre petrol, decided against it.

Now looks like 330 and 335.

Also innovation pack.

How much come out on time or comes to UK, remains to be seen.

Since I have until end may / 2nd week June until my lease ends, I will hold of rushing in to an order.

Well, back in UK now and test drives tomorrow.

Will also quiz them about updates to range and latest realistic order date ( I don't mind biking to work for a bit).

As a new member, I appreciate this forum, some really good advice without the usual criticism seen elsewhere.

Update.

Had nice couple hours test drive with a 320d m sport xdrive with sports auto and Pro Nav.

Was driving mainly twisty A roads with some good tight bends and decent straights.

Lovely wet roads to see how xdrive handled and pretty rough surface in places.

Pushed it pretty hard throughout the drive, auto box is excellent, so that is definitely a ticked option.

Liked feel of the xdrive and that x% it seemed to give to the driving.

It was not as firm as my current M Sport, however I am not adding the adaptive option, as that will blow my 330 option out of budget.

Pro nav lovely screen and very useable, she who must be obeyed liked it, so looks like it will be added.

Unfortunately, 330d m sport not available today, so will take some time off in week and try it then.

However, the 320d xdrive is a very good car with in reality plenty push.

The jury is out on the "superman" colour scheme, I like it but ...... Women!

Yes women have better taste

You can tell Wonderwoman and Superwoman were written by males, a trendy woman would never be seen dead in Red and Blue.

I admit I may use the colour option, to persuade her to let me get Moonstone.

If I spec it, I would have to loose an option.. But if she specs it.....

If you need help on persuasive ways to discuss the benefit of an extra, let me know! I managed to get HUD, radar cruise, memory seats, panoramic sunroof and a tow bar added to our original agreed spec!

Haha, classic.

I can see most of the options being explainable in women logic, however, the radar cruise?

Brigand, I've got a good spec 320d M Sport Plus xDrive...I've driven it for about 1300 miles now, am about to start giving it some stick.

I had a similar dilemma to you..I needed to keep an eye on the budget (payments and insurance/fuel etc), wanted decent performance and a swanky looking car.

For the reasons above I went for the 320d, I can honestly say I love it. On the few occasions I've let it fly the performance is there, yet there is a reasonable fuel economy too.

I'd always want NAV in a car...rarely use it, but I personally hate seeing a brand new car with wires hanging from the windscreen. I didn't originally spec heated seats, but added it later - so pleased I did. Rear view camera is great, HK stereo is superb..I won't go on.

If it were me I would decide on what I really want from the car spec wise, head into a dealer and issue them the challenge on the 330, then head to your next nearest dealer who is part of a different group....See what they can do, if they can't get it in your budget then move to the 320d, still a brilliant car.

She has a longer commute than me and uses the M25 and M4 when she goes to the office, so for that kind of stop start driving it is ideal. Also has the benefit or warning you if the car in front starts slowing and you don't react to it. It helps to reduce the chances of a rear end shunt.

The towbar was harder (as the main reason is I want to be able to tow a track car in future) but then I realised that if we take bikes anywhere then a tow bar mounted carrier is much better for a woman to use, she agreed that her lifting bikes up to the roof was a recipe for disaster.

Jack, thanks, having had a few other cars in past and having a 320d at moment, totally agree it has ample performance.
Just have to look in rear view mirror leaving the M6 toll barrier lol.

I already have a couple of very good offers, it's just the working out what I can live without.
Current car has, heated seats, electric mirrors, darkened rear glass and m sport alloys etc.

I asked for a 320 and 330 same spec type of quote, just have to try and lower the 330 a bit lol.
Have now been told a definite yes to the pro nav but no to superman.

So looks like estoril and black leather, also will go for auto.

At least one part is sorted, just engine to go lol.

Will hopefully get some pricing tomorrow, taking a longer than Norma lunch.

Good luck...I couldn't quite do the superman. Though I love the coral leather, and never had a screwed up face or bad word on the red and white combo...though being in Essex the contrast seems to fit in

Hope all goes well tomorrow.

Off to dealers next week to hopefully finalise deal.

I can confirm I am going for the following.

330d xdrive
Estoril Blue
Black Dakota leather
Pro media
M sports plus pack
High beam assistance

Dropped the HUD as it puts me a little over where I want my monthly figure to be.

Will be a bit of a juggle for delivery date, as my current 320 is a lease from BMW.
That is due back June 17, however I am looking at handing it back 3rd week in May.
That means I can go on holiday with the new tourer.

Looks like 2 Christmas's this year.

Originally was wanting detailer in, however got the BMW protection thrown in price.

So next week I should be updating this with my 'Confirmed order and build'

Thanks for some excellent advice .

Are you getting just the high beam assistant, or the visibility pack?!

make sure you get the Viz pack - you won't have Xenons without it - which would be a big issue later on (resale) and you will regret it everytime you get into the car in the dark.

Getting high beam assistance, as m plus pack gives the xenons.
As wife's car has xenons, I must have them on this one.
Not to worried about adaptive lights tbh.
