I went with the MPPK and MPE for the same reason most others have stated before - it's factory parts, they're a value-add at trade-in/private sale time, they're designed by BMW engineers, and there's no warranty issue. I also bought mine from getbmwparts, but I installed the engine cover and lower intake piece and the stickers myself. Dealer charged me less than $100 to install the software. I got the MPE and MP gloss black grilles as a package for about $1300, port-installed.
How did you go about doing the intake silencer? The instructions refer to you another document, but that document is for the E platform.

Port installed means it'll get installed at the Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) stateside when the car gets off the ship from Germany. The VPC is where they do last minute inspections, place the actual window sticker, clean the car up, repair any minor dents that may have occurred during shipment, make sure the car is running ok and repair if not, and install various additional options before sending the car off to the dealership.

It's fairly straightforward. You remove the upper part of the airbox first. There are some clips on the outside of the airbox that have to be unlatched, then you have to lift the top part which includes the snorkel that goes towards the turbo and remove the filter element. This is necessary to allow you to then unbolt the bottom half of the airbox from the fender panel. After that's done, you replace it with the new lower half, bolt it in, and then reverse the upper-half removal process.

Just got the MPPK and MPE installed this past weekend, it's a solid upgrade and I can pretty much echo all of OPs statements. Qualitatively, the car responds faster, quicker off the line and the sound is awesome! Could I have gotten more from 3rd party tunes? Probably, but not really into modding it too dramatically. I'm pretty conservative here.

I did the installation myself (pretty easy stuff) and asked the dealer to update the software for about $360. Total installed MPPK was about $1660, with the MPE about $970 placing the total to about $2600.

I probably saved about $3-400 in install costs assuming dealer rates.

If you're not in Cali, you can save a bit more on the cost of the parts (tax) as I purchased them from a Cali dealer off eBay.

Vrrooom!

The price in Australia is $4500 AUD .
So now does it do 0-100 km under 5 seconds. Or 0-60 miles under 5 seconds??

Installed the MPPK and MPE on my 435i yesterday. Like others, I definitely feel the extra power in the mid-range. The car was fast in a silky smooth way (you barely felt the car gaining speed) before, but now I definitely feel the engine and the power. This alone makes the MPPK worth it in my view. The exhaust is not as loud as I expected, but that's ok - it has a slightly louder and deeper note, and the burbling is much more present (and quite obnoxious!), on both idle and downshifts to low gears. I've barely driven it so will report back, hopefully with video.

Not sure about the decals. dealer put them on, but looks a bit silly to me...

I did all the installation steps except the programming (obviously) so they didn't have a chance to add any of these silly decals

The decals are actually pretty sleeper once they're on the car. They don't stick out nearly as much as they do on paper. Still though, they are visible but act as a deterrent to random slammed Civic driver wanting some action.

Haha, that's pretty funny. My main deterrent for slammed Hondas is the sound my engine & exhaust now makes in 1st gear at 6500 RPMs.

Just got MPPK along with MPE on Monday. I felt that even stock the power was there and didn't necessarily need anymore per se. I mainly wanted to improve the sound to make it more in character with M-Sport. The extra power was a bonus to me. But can definitely say the extra power is nice. Very linear pull and seems like power comes on at lower revs than before. Definitely feel the difference and the exhaust sound along with MPE are just right to me.

Although price is expensive compared to some other options, I felt I got exactly what I wanted out of it. So it is well worth it to me. I plan to keep my car for at least 6 yrs. So warranty is of prime importance. Not going to risk that to save a grand or so on 3rd party. Not a good investment to me.

Agree that the sound is worth the price, and I kept the stock exhaust on.

Here it is almost April and I still have not had the oppurtunity to roll down my windows and listen to the N55/PPK and MPE in all its glory. It's 20 something degrees outside. Sick of this suck ass weather.

You guys that only have installed the MPPK, what do you think about the engine sound compared to before? I dont have it confirmed but I think all new BMWs have enhanced/synthersized engine sound through the speakers. So Im hoping the MPPK also shapens the enginesound(throuhg the speakers).

I havent yet driven the new 335i or 435i so I dont know what the enginesound is like. But I have tested the 428i and that definetely had enginesound synthersized through the speakers(sounded ok).
My E92 335i does not have a very clear enginesound because of the turbo and no fake sound.
Really what I want do know, is if the MPPK installed on the new 335i/435i does make the engine sound like the M235i.
Last friday I tested M235i and it is really fast and what a great engine sound. But it has a bit to mutch tyrenoise, the 435i has a more appealing cabin and is more stable thanks to the longer wheelbase. (but what a fun car the M235i is

As far as I know, ASD (Active Sound Design) is available with MPPK only if your 435i has not the hi-fi standard (so it should have the amplified hi-fi or the H&K).
My 435i has it and I had no ASD activated after installing MPPK...
Said that, I totally agree: I wish I had the ASD of M135i/M235i inside my cabine!

OP, I see it's been sometime since you've installed the PPK. How many miles / km's have you clocked since, and has your exhaust note gone substantially louder? I've got mine installed in April, and I've put on around 2000 km since, mostly urban driving. However, everyone says the exhaust note gets louder, but I sincerely have to think carefully before agreeing as I cannot notice a substantial increase in the exhaust tone. BTW I have the MPE, and it sounds really good in sport mode.

Maybe I need to take her out for a long distance run to "open" in up a bit? ...

I'm at 7,800 miles. It gets louder. Don't worry.
