Hi all,

I have a 2015 428i. Im booked in for a stage 1. Getting it done by a known tuner in my area. My question is how reliable is the N20 with a stage 1 map? I'm wanting a 40/45bhp increase. Would that be pushing it too much? I have no performance mods on, engine is all stock. Is there anything I should be concerned about? I have had the car 2 years now and just want some more power.

Will post results after it is done.

Thanks in advance.

Stage 1 is pretty safe and you can ask the tuner to be conservative with the tune

^+1. The tune is only as safe as the tuner makes it.

Agreed, a tune is only as safe as the tuner is good at tuning. That said, judging purely off of that dyno graph and not having any logs to look at, it looks like he kept it in line with what most stage 1 tunes are at, so going off of that limited info, seems safe enough.

208 whp stock seems quite low I see most people dyno around 220 stock. But obviously everyone’s car from the factory is different, along with every dyno. Stage 1 basically just turns boost up 1-3lbs you’ll be fine with that. Add catless dp and fmic for your next mods

1- Your tuner should be able to provide datalogs. that's the only way we can tell if the map is safe

2- upgrade your charge pipe

I will go and put my opinion in and say it's not worth to chance it on that motor. If it's an N55 I would be all for it.

I mean there's a lot of people in the community that have pushed their N20s a hell of a lot further. For the figures that I'm getting now it shouldn't be that much of an issue for the engine.
