I have Collision Warning but don't have ACC. I set it on "early collision". It has two settings Early collision and Late collision. What is the purpose of setting it on late collision?TIA

No one said that cars without the option would, that's the point.

And you also said it would brake at one point: "it will begin to brake for you so that you can take over." But you don't seem to want to admit that you were wrong. I don't know why you're being so difficult. |

If you just have the Collision warning (as a stand alone option) it cannot brake (in any region). If you HAVE the option Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go AND have the Collision warning activated it will brake! User manual, page 117 (http://www.f30post.com/goodiesforyou...al_F30POST.pdf) Quote:

When I ordered my AH3 the ACC/Stop & Go was not an option-anyone know does it come standard when the Collision Warning is ordered (this was the only one of these options showing).

In the US it is not available with M-sport, but it is on other markets. It does not come as standard with Collision warning, but if you order ACC Stop & Go you will get Collision warning by default. |

Active Protection
Is this something we can enable by coding?
"If a crash was unavoidable, the system applies the vehicles brakes automatically and brings it to a standstill, without the driver needing to act. This reduces or in an ideal case completely rules out the probability of secondary or follow-on collisions and their consequences." This is on the German website and talks about cars with either the camera or radar.

The ActiveHybrid does not support ACC/ stop-and-go. Presumably it has to do with validating the configuration of regenerative braking / electric-only drive mode and how those interact with the ACC brains. I can imagine them bringing that functionality to a future model year, but currently you forego ACC if you get the ActiveHybrid. |

I would love for that in an ideal world but until then, i would appreciate the majority of vehicles on the road having collision avoidance |

I too think all new cars should have some sort of collision prevention, either active (with auto braking) or at least passive (just alerting the driver) AS STANDARD! An accident happens so quick and with so many drivers on the road.. Some not paying attention, some fatigued, some distracted.. Actually its a bit irresponsible of manufacturers that the technology is there today but its mostly a quite expensive option.

Kind of lame that the F30 doesn't come with Active emergency braking included. When i ordered mine I assumed it did as even my Mom's $28k Mazda CX-5 comes with active emergency braking at speeds below around 20mph.

Thanks Math. Google "A BMW Motorcycle Story" to see my even more amazing bike. But enough of that. Back to the topic. My F31 is still being built in Germany and today is the first time I learned that our cars don't actually have active braking unless you pay for ACC. This is now the second thing that I think every BMW should have even in the base model. (The other is I think every BMW should offer at least the option for remote start when every cheap car seems to offer this very useful feature.)
