Exterior detailing job finished (edit: and interior)

Wanted to do this for a while but didn't have the time until being forced to "work from home"

Product lineup:

Step 1 was a proper clean with my portable jet wash. Snow foam from Dirtbusters and then manual wash with Poorboy's Super Slick & Suds

Megs clay bar & Quick Detailer:

Quick wash/dry and then onto the polishing
The paint wasn't particularly bad, and swirls are hardly noticeable on white.
However, some scratches here and there and swirls definitely present:

In any case, I hated the idea of putting a long lasting wax such as Fusso on top of paint with swirls and scratches.
Using a DAS-6, I got the Poorboy's SSR2.5 which has a mild cut. Used it with a Lake Country green pad

Next I give it a round of SRP - probably not necessary as I seem to have removed most swirls and scratches, but just in case...Hex Logic blue pad for this purpose:

Finished the paintwork with a round of Fusso Soft99 - using it very sparingly and it's easy to buff off

Moving onto the engine bay with Sonax Engine & Cold Cleaner - easy job and now ready for the AP intake:

Finished the wheels tonight (yes, rusty brake disks, I don't drive enough). Jet wash and dry followed by Magma - thought they were pretty clean but looked like the wheels were bleeding - very satisfying:

Next, onto AG Custom Wheel Cleaner kit using the brushes supplied in the kit:

Couldn't get my fingers dirty anywhere on the outer to middle part of the rims so assumed I could move on to GTechniq C5 wheel armour. Pretty easy to apply and buff, but I was surprised how dirty the cotton pads got - obviously didn't get all the dirt off. In any case, happy with the result!

Good fun doing this. Interior should be very quick as it's in near mint condition. Waiting for my Dr. Leather wipes.

Hood reflection

Very nice.
I used a brush with the Dr Leather spray, found it got more out than just the wipes but it depends on the co diction of the interior - didn't look like mine had ever had a proper clean so it needed a thorough job

Did consider the spray/brush, but apart from the driver's seat it looks pretty much unused. I don't think the previous owner had kids

Looks fantastic

Only point to make, and please don't take this as a criticism, just passing on some info, is that SRP has fillers in it which will help hide swirls, but seems you would have shifted them with the SSR2.5. I've also found that if you wipe down with IPA after polishing it removes polish residue and the wax can bond to the surface better and thus last longer.

Looks amazing, beautiful job and car!!

Wish I could get my mineral grey paint to look like that! Lots of minor scratches and swirls to remove.

Just out of interest how long did all that lot take you?

No worries - any feedback appreciated!
I was adviced to no use SRP if I did a good job with the polishing. As I know I don't have the skill/patience to remove 100% of the imperfections I thought I might as well cover up the rest with SRP. Seems like a popular product to finish off with.
Never heard of the IPA tip - will see how long the Fusso layer sticks and keep your comment in mind, cheers

Thanks for sharing. Looks brilliant.

What did you use the Sonax Plastic Restorer on specifically and do you rate it? I need something from the plastic grills on the lower part of the front bumper..

I used it mainly for the side skirts - made a huge difference. Also on some tired rubber parts in the engine bay

Thanks
I did the claying, polish/SRP and wax in one go - took me around 5 hours and I had some breaks and chilled out with it. Did not find it overwhelming at all.
The wheels took me about 2 hours. Could have done a more thorough job, but I didn't want to take them off the car. Couple of hours extra for the additional bits (engine bay, snow foaming etc).

This can help with your brake discs when washing

https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/bilt-...sion-inhibitor

Helps prevent your clean wheels getting covered in rust when you drive it after the wash.

I know what you mean about trying to get wheels clean enough for the C5.
Several washes , fallout removers and a mild abrasive Polish followed by panel wipe last week on my 666’s, took about 4 hrs.

Thanks for the tip - ordered today

Finished the interior today after getting my Dr Leather wipes. Used Sonax Cockpit Care for the dash/trim, great product and smells nice.

Yeah, guess it ruins the clean look. Already decided to wrap the V bar in blue so would look a bit busy.

Garage List
You've started an itch in me; - to get the engine compartment shiny again, but I have 20m of fence still to paint and good weather here (unusual) so it will have to wait a couple of days.

Brilliant results on your car. Thanks for showing it.
