Engine replacement CPO warranty situation

Got caught in a flood and hydro-locked the engine on my 2014 F30 last Saturday and my insurance adjuster is offering a used "lower mileage" replacement engine. The BMW service manager advises that it is my choice whether to accept the used engine, or a BMW sourced "new" engine which I assume would be a reman.

The initial response I gave the adjuster is that I can't accept anything that would adversely affect my CPO warranty which runs into 2019. When I asked the service manager about that, he said either engine would qualify to continue the CPO, but I have a hard time believing that. It seems like I should push for the BMW sourced engine if I can get it.

Looking for anyone with prior experience or informed opinion on this question. The car has about 40k miles and the insurance company is Progressive.

I would go with the BMW sourced motor.

obviously get the most that you can from insurance, but i would call BMWNA to verify the criteria. A used engine should really be no different, besides the fact that it's already been broken in and any potential bugs have (hopefully) already been worked out or repaired by the previous owner.
