love the illustration. That's pretty insane that it's that loud. People have told me that my car's fairly loud from the outside, some say "too loud for a 4 cylinder", I should say they're lucky I don't have an AWE system lol. Now I think I kinda want one...

Yikes. Not sure who though my setup would be louder. Lol

So, here are my results. I did both a centered 3 feet (since I have quads) and a left (shortest route for piping) 3 feet. The latter was louder but not top dawg in peak. I will say that my phone does possibly have a wishy-washy microphone, as it doesn't work when I use speakerphone (sounds muffled apparently), so this will be my submission and I'll take a look at trying my GF's newer iPhone or possibly a newer tablet of mine. Not too bad though! My idle does seem to be quieter.

I think we all thought your setup would be louder lol. I'm pretty surprised, the AWE with stock cat is nearly as load as my catless setup, so I think it would only make sense that yours would be at least a little louder. Also, one of your idle readings was quieter than stock, so I'm gonna say your phone mic had a hand in this lol. I would say it's the quads but for shits and giggles I tried putting my phone in the center, a bit offset from the tips, and hit hardly made a difference. So this is what I've gathered would be your official entries:

Idle: 76.9dB
Rev: 111.7dB

Either we were all wrong, or something's up with your phone mic lol.

Yah, I wouldn't either. And if that's not a testament to being loud, attracting police attention, idk what is lol. Either way, you're on the board, pending a potential future re-test. Thanks for submitting

Awesome, I might get in on this over the weekend. That's one thing that really bothered me when I was looking to do my muffler delete -- everyone seems to film their sound clips in a [n open] garage or car wash bay where it will obviously be much louder.

Can't say I'm not guilty of filming exhaust clips in parking garages/car wash bays as well, it's hard to resist lol. But yah that's the goal, to be objective.

It would be great to have a muffler delete entry on the board

I had just returned from running an errand and checked my temps before starting the test, all were nominal. I definitely hear what you described, as in, any start with that flap open is a loud one, very bassy.

Yah, starts can be quite loud, even on a stock exhaust. However, we're just trying to get a normal idle, not a startup reading. As in, the car's already on and running and then you just measure the sound of the idle. If that's what you did and I'm misunderstanding that's my bad, you're graph just looks like it was a startup not just a steady idle.

I'm not really concerned about tunes... they can affect the general sound of the sound the car makes, if that makes any sense, but not really the volume.

Do all tunes keep the idle at stock RPM? Stock I think I'm idling around 750RPM I believe but will check tomorrow. (after cold start).
