Something is wrong with my car!!

Ok so i have a problem with my car, about a week ago i was driving on a local street and i noticed my car was VERY sluggish. I was reving at 6000 rpm and my car was barely moving. I then noticed the temp gauge was past half, when i pulled over the fan was on blowing at full speed. This has happened twice already, any ideas? I madd an appt to go in to the dealer next week.

If it's Limp Mode you won't be past 3000 rpm.

You can rev to 6000rpm in limp mode, but it takes a while. I experienced this several times.

I have had four limps. Three would not exceed 2500rpm, as you state. One hit 4000-4500rpm, but had all of the other attributes to limp.

Wasn't/isn't this a common fault with the F30 335i? A faulty thermostat, triggering the limp mode and sending the fan into warp speed? If not dealt with quickly there could be lasting damage to the fan?

Remember something not too dissimilar to that going on...

Happened to one of my friends F30 as well... Next time this happens record it with your phone and bring the car to the dealer with the video.

Ive gotten above 3k rpm almost every time...and most notibly around 5.5k the last time it happened...I think it depends on when you get it...if you are at a slow speed or stop, it wont let you get high into rmps...if you are already traveling at a good speed and rpm the rmps will naturally be higher, especially if downshifting into limpmode like the last time I had it

Best way to prove your point. Also helps technicians diagnose. Not just limp mode, any fault.

Yeah this is a common thread on this forum. 2013/2014 335's have this issue. I have had it at the dealer a total of 4 times and now they are replacing the car.

@Ron which dealer in NY did you purchase the car from?

Welcome to the club. I've gone though it also. Took 2 months to get my replacement fan in, but so far so good since then

Here's the thread that everyone else is using to talk about their limp mode issues.

They have to figure out what is causing it first.
