RDC failure and changing tyres
Well had the car two weeks and just got my first fault. RDC failure, no tyre pressures can be monitored. I see a lot of these errors across the web, just looking for a bit of advice, should I just go direct to Bmw as the car is still under warranty? (65 plate 335dx) or is there something I should try first?
Also wondering what I need to do if I change the tyres to non run flats? Many thanks. |

I take it you tried resetting? Or leaving car locked then starting again to see if it resets?
Failing that take to BMW if you have a warranty.. NRFT should be no issue to swap out btw. |

Could be anyone or more of the four sensors which have failed or the dedicated module which connects to them I had a similar problem with my F31 three years ago. Dealer ended up replacing all the tpms sensors and the comms unit in the end - and scratched the car and wheels in the process having kept it in for a week Hopefully you'll have better luck - staff at my local dealer are complete muppets

It seems an obvious question, but have you tried resetting them via the idrive menu? It then requires you to drive for a period until the resetting shows 100%

Thanks all. I got in this morning and all seems well again, even after my commute, any reason why it would have given me a warning if it's fine now? I was driving to Loch Lomond from Kippen over the weekend and the roads around there are horrendous! Pot holes everywhere, maybe to do with that?
Thanks for the suggestions, I didn't want to try a reset until I talked to you guys because I know the sensors on my new car are more advanced than the old tpms on my old E90, so just in case I fecked something up but will try that if it happens again. Thanks. |

Good to hear it's sorted. Don't forget that you have to reset on your idrive each time you pump your tyres up to the correct pressure.

You need to "baseline"
Leave tyres to go cold. Top up pressure to the stated pressure. Reset the indicator in the vehicle status menu and go for a drive until the re calibration is complete. Normally take about 7-10 mins of driving for the bar reset bar to go upto 100%. |

Glad it worked out with a simple reset

Sorry to bump up an old thread, but I had the exact same problem today. I just went over some nasty roads with deep potholes, and about 5 minutes later, I got a message telling me that that RDC has a failure.
Did you ever get the same message again after it disappeared without doing anything? |

Summer tyres it was intermittently failing and resetting, but winter tyres it was permanent fault. I replaced the receiver module in the rear of the car and fixed the issue straight away. Plug and play, no coding needed. Old part + new part number on the box. (The module you might need might be different for your car, so check with BMW)

There may be other locations that BMW put them as well but not sure. Needs a few pieces of trim removing to access if it's in that second location.

Thanks BBri89, much appreciated.
Mine is actually an M135i but the receiver is effectively in the same position. Took most of the boot apart looking......frustratingly it was just one trim piece that needed removing Got the part number of it (same as your old one) and waiting for a quote from dealer for one, fingers crossed it fixes the issue. |

Hello all, seems to be a common problem. I can't seem to find where the control unit is on my 2015 F30. Anyone have any thoughts? BTW, not behind gas tank.
