However true that maybe, my 6gc is pretty much useless in interior space compared to the 5. So the 4 gc will remain to be a coupe with 4 doors

What is this a pic of? THIS is what BMW should make.

The new design language is strangely squashed looking. The squashed look looks more natural when you have a low roof line like the 6GC (along with the new Z4 is the only successful new design IHMO). Looks horrible when you have a high roofline like the GT models.

The pic posted by Scott looks spot on. Actually reminds me of the Audi A6 lines which are also spot on.

Since I got my driving license 20 yrs ago, I've only owned and driven BMW 3 series coupes: e36, e46, e92...And now I'm about to order a 4 series....but seeing the 4GC, for the first time, I am considering having 4 doors...more flexibility while retaining the coupe shape.
So I guess this is where the 4GC makes sense, it attracts people that loves coupes, that grew old and need some sort of practicality. This is its market!
BUT I still wish it looked more individual and more different than the 3 sedan (like the 6GC is to the 5 series).
I think it looks gorgeous but it's a lazy design, some effort could have been made to make it look like a complete new model.

This arrives early summer as an MY2015 and so does the M3 and M4. I am thinking that all 3 and 4 models may follow suit. It would not be the first time we see a short model year and early-calendar-year model year changeover to "sync up". And if that happens, in turn, we may see other BMW models (5, 6, etc.) roll over to MY2015 at the same time.

And only $200 more than the standard 4 Coupe.
By my math it's $200 less than the 435i coupe.

Yeah, bummer no B58. Maybe for MY2016? Would correspond to F30 LCI of course. That is when I would buy.

As an F30 owner/fan, I think it looks superb!

You mean the 4 series?

3 series is sedan, and sedan seats 4 adults better than a coupe (especially headroom in the back)

I need to see comparison shots between this, the regular 3, the 3GT, and the regular 4. Right now it kind of just reminds me of a short wheel base 3GT. I'll reserve final judgement until I see it in person.

I do get why they made it a hatch style though, the trunk opening on the regular 4 is soooooo small that you really can't fit much of anything in there. The hatch style is actually really convenient when trying to transport so many different things. This is what the 3GT should have been.

Also, any word on manual transmission?

No. 3 series is sedan. Keep it that way, from now on.

BMW has already said there will not be an M4GC.

looks like it would have been the same price as the M4 coupe if it was made. But I guess their logic is that with the extra weight no one would want it over the M3 or M4 coupe. I would have bought it...

You're right, I got that backwards. Ironically, I had thought that at first, doubted it could be, went to BMW USA website to confirm, and promptly go the two switched in my head as I was doing so. I'll edit my post.

It looks too much like an 3 series GT to me and looks heavy.

yep, style! pay more for more style. I can guarantee that this will look better than a 3 sedan when parked next to each other.

That looks quite nice. Some of us including me like the coupe styling so that alone is reason enough for this car to exist.

Am I really so old that I'm the only one wondering how BMW can offer a car like this without a 6MT??

So help me understand the marketshare aspect/relation of this car and F30 MR. BMW!!!???
as much as I love this car and it is super sexy...but as an owner of a F30, I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to own this car as it is SO SIMILAR to what I already own...a bit of added gadgets here and there, a bit wider/lower,...OK noted. But it still doesn't change the overall landscape...
The other side of the coin is a first time buyer who doesn't own any of the two: Which one would they buy? selecting either one only kills BMW's own marketshare...rather than trying to steal the competition's...

I think the car is beautiful, best looking 4 door for its price segment. And I'm really not biased
