Transmission Fluid Exchange at NTB or Merchants
Just got a flier in the mail and was wondering if anyone did a Transmission Fluid change at either location. They claim, for $90, they will "replace up to 18 quarts of manufacturers recommended ATF plus 10% shop fee based on pre-invoiced retail price." Do you guys think that taking my car to either of these locations will lead to repercussions later down the road?
I'm currently at 55/56k miles, and I'm looking to do a tranmission fluid change. Thanks in advance for your help! Also, I currently have 7 qts of Castrol Edge and the Oil Filter kits from Tischer... Since I live in an apt, i can't do the oil change myself. Has anyone brought their car to Firestone or Midas (etc.) to just pay for the $20 labor? |

NTB will only use products they sell on your car.

Same goes for STS and jiffylube and all the other crappy oil change places. I would only take my car to the dealer or a certified BMW mechanic. It is just not worth the hassle of some high school kid messing up your car or breaking something because of what they did or did not do.

Thanks for all the heads up fellas. I wasn't sure about this, since finances are a little tough for me right now... but I guess spending the extra cash will definitely be cost-effective here in the long run.

Jiffylube loosened the battery cable during an oil change on a friend's (female) SUV, to make it look like there was a problem that they would need to fix.
Go to a good reputable independent BMW place or transmission shop. |
