Hi Guys,

I know there has been a few people asking about this and ive read through them all but im still stuck.

I only have 1 key for my car, so i got another Virgin Key and upon trying to code the key to the car im getting the error in the below image.

Attempted several times to program now, has anyone got any ideas please?

Im not sure if its genuine or not, I ordered the below. Also I made sure that the below is the same MHZ as my car. As my Genuine BMW key says mine is 868 on the key and on the motherboard of the key.

What would happen if they sent the wrong MHZ, what would display then?

You need to programm your key!!!What you think to buy key on ebay put in car and is working?? They need pull out your FEM and make key working for your car

What I was trying to do was the method of holding it up again the key symbol on the dash, holding start button and letting go etc.

I didnt just presume getting into my vehicle and it just working. The error I attached on the original post is the error im getting during this process.

If I owned a garage or was a locksmith I might consider buying the linked gizmo for $689, but I don't see average guys doing that instead of buying a $350 key.

You were trying to sync the remote to your car's immobilizer, however the key is still virgin and has to be programmed by either your dealer (I doubt they'd program a key you provide, since they'd want to make money on both the key and the programming. If you take it to a locksmith, he'll have to hack your FEM to extract the signing key, and update your FEM for it to accept the newly programmed key. You'll then be able to sync the key and use it with your car.

There are quite a few platforms for key programming, among which there is autel IM608 (it costs 3.2k USD).

I suggest you get a quote from your dealer first before taking your blank key to an automotive locksmith.
