Of course that's the point he was trying to convey. It's the messenger that makes it more problematic than it otherwise might be.

To take DetroitM2's example of a concentration camp - if a Jew compares something to a concentration camp it takes on a different connotation than if Farrakhan does. Right?

Seems *some* members of the GOP agree with my assessment that it was a dumb choice:

You are expending enough effort for both of us. By the way, did you read those links you posted? They all associated the witches with trials. I missed your reply to that..........Trump is saying lynching, which means a hanging without a trial.

It's akin to comparing things to Nazism or the Holocaust. Unless you're talking about actual Nazis or actual government sponsored genocide, it's always a bad idea.
Agree. He zoomed right past hyperbole and crashed into tone-deaf.

Yeah right, that's exactly what Trump meant We're talking about the guy that thinks you need a photo ID to buy groceries. Point being Trump is not a bright guy, much less honed in on history. Ask most any American what lynching means and nearly all will say it's killing a black person for an alleged offense with or without a legal trial.

I'll say it again, he's everyone's drunk and deranged drunk uncle that simply doesn't know any better. Did Trump mean to say a racist thing? No. Did he say a racist thing? Yes.

Not sure I can agree with the last line. If he didn't mean for it to be racist, then how is it racist? There is nothing racist about the term lynching, lynching just happened to be used by racists.

Wait. Total hypocrites AGAIN?

Democrat Rep. Danny Davis (Illinois) on the impeachment of Bill Clinton: "I will not vote for this nightmare before Christmas. I will not vote for this lynching in the people's House. I will vote against these resolutions."

Democrat Rep. Jim McDermott compared Clinton’s Impeachment n 1998 to #Lynching:
“We're taking a step down the road to becoming a political Lynch Mob... We are going to find a rope find a tree and ask a bunch of questions later..”

Jerry Nadler.
"I am the president’s defender in the sense that I haven’t seen anything yet that would rise, in my opinion, to the level of impeachable offense. … I wish we could get this over with quickly. … In pushing the process, in pushing the arguments of fairness and due process the Republicans so far have been running a lynch mob."

Wheels on the bus go round and round. But yeah, scream until you turn blue.

Carry on.

What the hell. Do these folks think that the internet doesn't exist and we can all just confirm what hypocrites they are???

Reality- they know and just don't care because they will get reelected anyway.

Ah, I see what you tried to do there. Thing is, I couldn't care less if they said it or that Trump said it. Guess I'm not super woke. McConnell derided Trump for using the word? Pffftt.
#cya and nothing more.

In other news:
Schiffs underground interrogations are beyond bizzaro. Now he's leaking the tidbits he's pulled from testimony to his loyal lapdogs in the MSM.
This charade, part 17, is going to haunt him for life. Trump runs away with reelection and they start it up all over again. I'm 99% positive that plans are already being made by dems/globalists.

Yea just like Biden and Nadler did the same verbiage

"Among those Democrats are two African-American representatives still serving in the House, as well as House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., and presidential contender Joe Biden.

Rep. Gregory Meeks, D-N.Y., called Clinton's impeachment a "persecution" and a "political lynching" on the House floor in 1998. And Danny Davis, D-Ill., condemned what he described as a "lynching in the People's House."

And actully it was brought out tonight on NBC...wait it wasn't

What has been deemed socially acceptable has changed over the years. Tone deaf and out of touch but I don't see this as racist by Trump, or any of the democrats that used it. Insensitive sure. A distraction, absolutely. As a demented grandfather Trump should get a pass on this one.

I take more of an issue with his constant cries of victimhood. For somebody who is supposedly the baddest bully on the block he sure does cry a lot.

Bullying 101 though, deflect and distract when you are caught up in the things you have created.

They have 4 powerful tools in their quest to maintain their positions, and they use them all every chance they get.
  1. The power of incumbency; it's enormous
  2. People are lazy, and won't do any due diligence to check their previous statements or positions
  3. People's memories are short and selective
  4. People want stuff, and the politicians are good at concocting bullshit narratives where everyone gets all the stuff they want, even though the very notion of that defies natural law
