The DHP does adjust in real time, so it's not just a straight setting. The mode sets the average, but it does adapt around that.

I'll see when I get mine, but I think the the different feel is what people are reacting to more so than it actually changing or doing unpredictable things. This is the same system that was on the E90 M3 and I never saw much for complaints about that.

Compatibility.

This might be a dumb question, but with the DHP would it be okay to use with aftermarket springs? Or would this mess up the dynamics of the DHP that was tested on stock springs?

This is something I've been wondering as I've had my F32 with Adaptive M suspension for half a year now. I love it, but I want less wheel gap yet I don't want it to throw a code, or if I get dinan springs with the bump stops, to still wear out my adaptive dampers much sooner then later ( I'll be out of warranty soon). But like I said, I love the difference between comfort and sport/sport plus. Never use the dreaded 4th mode before comfort.

Had the adaptive suspension in my 2014 435 & 2018 440. If I buy another BMW it will also have it. Also have no issues with the steering, think that is an affectation by the "true" drivers.

My COBRA has a manual rack & pinion steering system, as did my StingRay, GTO, 3 British sports cars & a number of other cars I owned so I have a pretty good grasp (no pun intended) of what pure direct steering is. There is nothing pure or direct about the hydraulic system its just different then the electric in application but they are both boosted steering systems.
