The red circles highlight where the original resistor is soldered to the board. The additional resistors leads are soldered to the same spots. If this is all Greek to you then I doubt you have a soldering iron or solder or know how to use a soldering iron, so you'll need to find a friend who's a geek to do it for you.

I'm going to have a go at this.

I've only got 1W 1R & 2W 0.5R resistors, be alright to use a 1w 1R?

If you're interested in changing the colors of your ambient lighting there's a German company that sells replacement LED modules that is super easy to swap out. I've bought from the company and done the swap myself. They're coming out with a replacement module for the LCI radio trim soon, this month supposedly.

For the door ambient lighting strips (need 4 of these):

For the floor board (need 2 of these):

Within the time to stuck some rubber into the doors I would change the door fairing SMD's and the ones into the foot well, plus I got my desired color combo

I just ordered mine today!! After owning the wife's 335XI since it was brand new, I noticed that the door cards are barely noticeable anymore. I did a search and some research and stumbled upon this.

It should be stickied some where haha. It's great info and the reviews on their website are also really good. Can't wait to install these. I went with the white/Orange 605.

Thanks for posting the links and quantities required!

Is the "orange 605" the color closest to the BMW orange, or is it the "orange" option on their site? I'm considering this too but wasn't sure which orange one to pick if I wanted a color closest to OEM.

No, this is indeed the BMW orange into closest way.

Great news everyone! The German company that sells the replacement LED modules has finally released the LCI radio trim modules yay! The link is now up for pre-order and they will ship out January 2022. I just ordered some, you need 2 of these if you're going to place an order (there's an LED module on each side of the radio trim).

I will finally be able to finish the ambient lighting switchover to blue/white (already have the door panels and footwells replaced).

According to their site....

"Due to the high demand, we now also have an orange version with a wavelength of 605nm in addition to the "normal" orange, which corresponds to the original BMW. The red content of the 605 version is higher than in the classic orange."

It appears the regular orange is the one that matches OEM. The Orange 605 just has more red in it.

Latest upgrade to my door panel ambient lights, using an extra set of bmw led modules and a Y cable. Really liked that look on the new G series B&W speakers and pleased with how it came out. Back doors next.

How did you remove the fiber optic rod/clear plastic from the led module housing?! I tried to do that, twisted a bit, and it snapped
Now I want to try to fully remove it, cut it clean where it snapped, and re-insert.

Does the rod just gell pulled straight out? Is there a clip I am missing?!

The lights are there but they're just very dim. Turning up the brightness doesn't help very much. There are aftermarket LED modules you can buy that make it much much brighter and different colors if you want.

It’s poorly written. They mean the opposite of your interpretation. 605nm is the BMW orange illumination color for last 40 years.

Read it this way:

What did you use to connect to the LED light module and ring around the speaker cover? Like the look of this project and thinking of making my own lighting for the center AC trim piece with the same materials/look...

I adapted a Y cable to have one female into two male connectors to connect to the extra module I used for the speaker ring. So it’s a simple plug in with no cutting, just a little prep time.
