As long as your straight pipe works for you that's great, that's all that matters. I was more stating that if someone is eyeing the 3k exhaust option, the suggestion of just gutting exhaust does not make sense

I did a muffler delete but kept the resonators. It does drone, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Truthfully, maybe it's because I kept the resonators or whatever, but the drone seems fairly minimal on mine maybe because I play my radio. It's really only noticeable when I'm driving stop light to stop light in the city. I had a muffler shop follow Fabspeed's design...well, it's really the only design a shop can really do.

Akra is a work of art, attention to detail is impressive. Turbo would be the more sensible mod considering it will add a nice bump in power. Either way, we are here to help with tuning/installation.

I respect all the opinions and mine was based on dishing out some good $$$ for my Tubi exhaust on the M5. The sound was intoxicating, but in retrospect, I should've spent that money on Evolve headers since I already had their tune. I agree with ENZO that the turbo would be a more sensible option.

If you really are not satisfied with the sound do the exhaust. If you want more power do the turbo.
Personally I would do the turbo though. |

Well the M3 sold, so I'm back to this debate. And leaning towards the turbo, since my car has a 2012 turbo and there would be enough gains (and no need to worry about fueling) with a simple pure stage 1.
And thanks Info@EnzoPerformance for offering to tune and install, I'll get it sorted out and bring it by for a fresh retune too (more burble+bigger turbo=happy shivas).

They will tell you their stage 2 flash tune will support the stage 1 turbo upgrade, just pick up a jb4 set it on map 6 as a boost control around 16psi and that is pretty much that. I talked to Chris about it several times. I already have the JB4, dont bother spending the money on a reflash...

You should look into the CG Precision exhaust. I chose this over the akra and couldnt be happier. Fitment and quality is top notch!

Completely off topic and sorry to bring up a old thread but I wouldn't need to forge any transmission or engine internals for a pure stage 1 turbo upgrade?
I have a 2013 F30 335i with catless dp and a Jb4 with 40% E85. Can my transmission handle all that torque? |

Yes trans will be fine with ps1, even with moderate ps2. BUT before ps1 you should get IC, Intake and CP that you didn't mention them on your post.

I know. Sort of rookie mistake. Sort of...I knew Bmw wouldn't cover the GFB. The tune was redone by CB Tuning/Eurodynamic, I had to take off the JB4 because of the issues with stacking ..... It runs strong as hell. Dynoed 350/381 on dyno dynamic, so around 400 on a dyno jet...(I didn't take pictures of the dyno but will when I go back after the DV install). I'm happy with the flash only strategy...smooth and no lumps or surges!
