New car, to me.
So, first time I’ve posted on here. I had an e91 which I loved but fancied a bit of a change so took the plunge and went for an f31 320d xdrive. Lovely car, has everything on it I could want.
However, I noticed a bit of a hesitation/judder which worries me a little. So i did a bit of internetting and discovered the transfer case issues. I’m thinking well that fits with everything I am experiencing. Cars currently in a garage being looked at. They’ve tried new wheels with brand new tyres. Problem persists. They’re now looking at testing the transfer case, I don’t know how. Cars out of warranty so want it fixed sharpish, the dealer I bought it from have been great and not grumbled once and said there won’t be a cost to me for anything, feeling relieved in that sense. Still a bit miffed I’m now without a car whilst they sort it out. |

yeah and if they cant fix it you can reject and find another - to do that you generally have to give them the chance to fix it, which you are! Good luck!

So update, gearbox specialist apparently doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with the transfer case and just thinks due to the mismatch tyres and tread depth the gearbox and adjusted it’s parameters to try and compensate. Next plan. Different wheels with all new tyres, relearn applied to gearbox/transfer case and see if that resolved it. If it does 4 new tires. If not, new transfer case. Watch this space.
The dealers have been great, accepting there’s something wrong from when I first mentioned it, which was unfortunately after I had bought the car, I couldn’t feel it on the test drive at all. |
