Brake System: Drive Moderately

Hi there

I got this error on my dashboard. When I go into vehicle details I get no details which brake pads/rotors need to be replaced (front or rear).

Car is at 80k, when I bought it they did brake replacement at 27k, but not sure if it was front and back, or just front.

Does it say anything about ABS? A pad sensor tripping will give a miles to go before replacement message and it will tell you front or rear. An ABS sensor fault will say drive moderately and hie thee to thine stealership at first opportunity. My experience with an ABS fault:

I have the same issue above. The car doesn’t put out a code it just tells me to drive cautiously to the dealer. When I’m driving on snow with application of the brakes my front wheels lock up but my rears will continue to rotate. Is this consistent with an ABS sensor failure?

On another note I checked to see if there are any hidden codes with an OBD3 reader. I got P0073 (ambient air temperature sensor circuit high) which is not what I am expecting. Not sure if -30* c has something to do with that.

ABS sensor failure will cause everything that depends on knowing the speed of each wheel to quit, including cruise control. Failure of the ABS system to work without a lot of other things being affected is probably not a sensor problem.

I had the same issue recently. Replaced the sensor (20 min job) and the error went away!
