XL load tyres? For the front on my 335d?

Following on from my gearbox / transfer case issue on another thread, if the non BMW * front tyres have contributed towards juddering on my X drive then I will change them asap.
My rear tyres as Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym. 2 so I would like to match them and have found these on Tyreleader;

https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyr...r19-89y-499323

Tyreleader show this tyre as being BMW * marked however it is not an XL, are XL's recommended or a must?

TIA

89Y is the same load rating as a 93Y XL at 2.5bar. It’s only at higher pressures that the XL takes a higher load. What’s your door plate say for your specific car?

Ps: Is the rear an XL?

I think it would best for people to address tyres for the OP's car not other models, I might as well start quoting the tyres for my car otherwise which is not really helpful.....OEM fitment Potenza's are 93Y at the front for the 335d xdrive on 19"

The tyres are the same for M Sport regardless of X Drive or engine. The spec of tyre will depend on the brand fitted at time of manufacture.

Mine are 89Y front, 92Y rear, my sticker says both can be fitted dependant on brand. Mine has Goodyear’s from factory, my 2014 had noisy Bridgestones.

Thanks, it was just the 'XL query' I was pondering over but I'll go with the information I have.

I understand the XL 'pondering'. There is misunderstanding with some users as to what XL really means. The tyres only carry extra load if inflated to pressures above 2.5bar.

XL can be specified for some type approvals, but often we are fitting XL with an increase of 3 or 4 numbers on the L.I. Simply because that is what is available, sometimes nothing in the exact sizing we run, in the brand we want to use, (in OEM sizes), so we up the L.I. in an XL equivalent.
