Raceglaze water filter
Anyone used one of these?
http://www.raceglaze.co.uk/car-care-...ashing-filter/ Effectively purifies the water meaning that after washing, all the car needs is a rinse off and left to air dry. Gives a water spot / smear free finish (apparently).

Haven't used one personally but they get good reviews, it's the same type of thing window cleaners use to get a spotless finish. Not sure if that's a good price or not, they're normally called di vessels.

I wash my car with softened water from my home system - direct connection for the hose.
Definitely makes washing and rinsing easier but the car still needs to be microfibre dried to make sure there aren't any water spots - 100% mineral-free water is difficult to achieve.

Yes used one for years and wouldn’t be without it. Wash even a black car in hot sun, rinse and walk away if you want. I do often dry off anyway but it’s not necessary if you are in a hurry.

Bottled water has all the minerals in it. You need U.P. Water. Deionized at least to make a difference.

I have one and it’s excellent. I power wash first then wash with tap water then rinse off with the Raceglaze filter on my power washer. Because of the pressure you use less water to rinse and it blasts at the non-filtered water out of the crevices. Changing the resin is a pain in the arse, kind of wish it was disposable! I also use it for windows. Pump some filtered water into a Hozelick pump spray gun and rinse after washing. Spotless results
Water smells of fish if left stood for a while, you can treat the resin with bleach to kill the bacteria that form in the standing water. Mine doesn’t often stand for long enough to be a problem. |

I have one that's 0ppm and it still leaves marks on the car. The car cannot be left to air dry without marks.
It's better than not using one but it's not 100% |

I use race glaze and it's so much better than not using one in hard water areas. As Jon said though not perfect.
I've used it for about 6 years so had to use the refill many times, and you develop the knack. Helps if you get the funnel.

Thanks all - it should be arriving today, so will report back once I've used it.
I have a Metro Vac Sidekick Blaster (think powerful hairdryer), so think a quick once over with that after the Raceglaze rinse should work out well.

I bought the raceglaze filter.
Works fine at 11lpm+ for using on a high flow Kranzle. I’ve left my R32 outside in baking sun and the 335xd in a dehumidified garage and they both dry out spotless and perfect. Removing a last step (drying) saves a lot of potential abrasive contact and time == win win. Plus you don’t look like a dickhead towelling a car, or blowing air over it. Just a last rinse with 0ppm looks ‘normal’ And arguably it’s the best approach too unless you’re about to do more work on it. |
