Question about the potential fuel cap error Im seeing reported here.
I would presume this is a tell tale sign for BMW to recognize potential tampering. Anyone know if this is scanned for automatically when brought in for service? |

Your losing too much timing to support the boost and octane... I would start low and work your way up instead..

May or may not.. with my JB4 I have 0 tranny issues except when I run Absolute targets without the EWG wires... But thats another discussion...
JB+ does not take into account many factors... Put the tranny in sport mode... should be better. |

Fuel Cap is BS unless your running too much E85 and/or pushing more than 400 HP...
Everyone keeps calling it the Fuel Cap.. they can only wish they hit it... What your seeing are people with throttle closures that blame the fuel cap... TC are due to many factors the major one are those with a Catless DP... Its an unfortunate by product of the computer not being able to manage boost well without sufficient backpressure... Everyone else who gets it is because of poor octane, too much E85, or simple wheel spin and TC kicking in. Put a BigBoost turbo on, plus all the other mods, plus E85 - yes you will hit it.. Stock cars with JB4 up to Map3 will NOT hit it... JB+ I doubt you will ever hit it... so dont worry about the cap... Worry more about getting good octane for the ECU to have a higher base boost target and maintain good timing... PS - the only time the service center will see something is if you throw a code. The moment that happens its recorded.... (ie Overboost, Low Fuel Pressure, etc.) |

Upgrading to the JB4 is easy. Just order the JB4 from BMS' and they allow you to send the JB+ back for credit after. Mike |

Curious as I have a 440 with MPPSK and I've been considering what to do to eek out some more power. Current thoughts are JB+, JB4 (don't like the install) or Rebellion Automotive chip. I've used JB+ previously on a 135i and liked the simple install / uninstall.

I've set it on the default 3 o clock position, and ran 392hp at the fly, or 330 at the wheels at Surrey rolling road. Biggest kick is the torque though, so the increase in power doesn't tell the full story. There were a number of MPPSK cars at SRR on the day, and mine was a good 20hp up. Not bad for the money. |

After about 3 months, I am happy with the B58/JB+ and BMS intake overall. I just put it through an SCCA track night event (JB+ at max) with zero issues and 80 degree ambient temps. I will probably upgrade to the JB4 as I add bolt-ons and supporting mods, but for the price and ease on an otherwise stock car, the JB+ is great.

Try backing off some - sometimes it's just too much boost for the fuel quality + temps...
I found with my JB4 less is more... But honestly it changes day to day which sucks about this platform.. |
