Ever needed to replace door seals?
Had mine now for 5.5 yrs and noticed that three door seals have come loose.
The big rubbery strings that are sort of U-shaped around the lower portion of the door. I had much older cars in the distant past, but door seals had never come off or worn out. Bizzarrely, the driver door, obviously most used, looks perfectly fine. Rear and passenger side are affected. They are glued on with some self-adhesive tape, not in a groove or something. Should I repair this myself or do I need a dealer? For those with quick access to the part catalog: Its part no 51767289930 at the rather stiff price of £45 for a piece of rubber. There is a note in the parts catalog This product is for installation by trained technicians and not by an end user. Installation must be performed exclusively by a specialist workshop. Your local BMW Centre will be able to assist with installation. Damage to any part due to incorrect fitment is not covered under warranty. |

I have a 2016 and the front passenger door seal was found defective and cracked near the top of the window. It was replaced under warranty. I had excessive wind noise in certain cross winds and that was deemed the culprit.

My problem are the seals that are under the doors, not on the body.
Advice from workshop today was that they need replacement, but "it's not a nice job as we have to take the doors off" That sounds super expensive for a seemingly simple door seal. Waiting for their quote before I jump to conclusions. |

Double sided tape could work, if you can get it in place. The usual fix would be with weatherstripping adhesive, like this:

I could import it, but this will take weeks to arrive and at least doubles the price. UK readers can follow my quest here: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...6#post25092606 Last edited by MikeMinh; 08-01-2019 at 04:10 AM.. |

I agree with glue or tape as stated above. I had that problem a lot with my old E46, especially when the car hit the 8 years old mark. I did not know about the glue, so I used double sided tape when the molding was still good, and put the money down and bought new molding when the product was deteriorating. The glue that was mentioned looks good and I will try this if my 2018 starts to develop any problems.
