OT: First drive of new A4
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/...tdi-190-review
Solid review of the new A4.. much as you'd expect: nice interior, quiet and refined, looks dull, dynamically ok. Hopefully the interior forces BMW to get the finger out on that front!

Interior wise it does look superior to our BMW's, more conclusive once we all go to go an sit in one.
I have to say that with the new C Class (not that I would buy one) new XE and new A4 I do get the feeling that BMW are a little behind with such a mild LCI update. GBR1 |

Interior looks nice, but I don't see much else to interest me.

F30 seriously lacks refinement . Road roar had me wearing ear plugs on long night drives to Scotland from the south . I couldn't enjoy the HK system because of it and moved to a 5 series . Got a feeling this will steal a lot of the lower engine power sales from F30

My F31 came on Continentals which I am happy with apart from noise. The Pirelli RST's I fitted on my E91 were alot quiter and transformed the car. I am to fit similar at first change to my F31. If you look at the noise levels on the tyre tests there is a vast difference between different brands of RFT. I always regret when buying a new car there is no choice of tyre brand |

Always a risk but mechanically driven dials can fail occasionally and cars have had lcd screens (albeit smaller ones) for a while now and don't hear too many examples of failure (even if late 90s/early 2000s audi and bmw pixels used to fail in the old OBC displays.
Full lcd instruments are nice though |

This is the key point IMHO, the lower power/spec F30's don't drive well enough to uphold the BMW image and expectation, so if that's your price point why wouldn't you go for a better interior and refinement

If it wasn't for that I would have run the 330 d to 150000 miles . If was in the market for a 4 pot compact exec I would unfortunately have to seriously consider the new A4 ! |
