Quick one... 318D going in for oil service next week. I'm providing my own oil to cut down on the cost.

Which oil do I need and how much?

I think 6L of Castrol Edge 5W-30 should cover it but just want to check.

It will be a touch over 6. If anything, by the time the filter is also filled it will be just under 7.

Personally I use Castrol 5w40 (Ll04) as the engine sound is a lot quieter with it.

It also provides better engine response in 100mph+ region for when you stick your blues and twos on and I need to fail to stop.

Although I would think 5w30 will be more than adequate for a 318d.

Check with the dealer, mine was very particular about what oil they would use.

Comma Syner Z LL04 5W30 is fine.
