Thanks.
+2 On the wiring issue, mine works perfectly when set to luxury (white), however when changed to red (classic) panel stops working. But I'm too lazy to try and fix personally...Just happy one way working correctly...Looks better, in my opinion anyway....

The white wouldn't bother me anyway but I only have one trim piece with the white LED and the rest are all red. I just want to match all of the ambient lighting but I don't have the option to set the color to red or white. So my trim piece with both white and red LEDs are lit up at the same time.

Probably Your Y cable is bad, and you are getting the feed from orange and white coming together. Or something is wrong with the connection on the ambient light piece and both are joined somewhere by accident.

Either way it ain’t coding, it’s a physical issue. You’ll have to break out the multimeter or get a different Y cable.

I'll try switching the Y cable. Does anyone have a trusted link for a replacement Y cable.
Onizukachan, did you have trouble with this yourself or have you just run into this issue before?

Either way, thanks man.

Happy to let you know that the Y cable was in fact the issue and replacing that fixed the issue immediately. Thanks for all the help.

No issue, I just understand dc electrical and how that circuit works is all. Glad I could help.

Hey guys! I just have a quick question as I couldn't find anything about this anywhere on this thread.

I own a 2016 M4 (pre-LCI), and I decided to do this upgrade. I bought the ambient light mod from amazon so it's safe to assume it's not a genuine BMW piece. Link: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B09...MQ4SRWIMW&th=1

It already has two cables coming out of it, but they're both 3 pin connectors. The amazon ad says the M4 uses a 4 pin connector. Can anyone confirm if this will be a direct plug and play for my year M4, 2016? I was thinking maybe the connectors changed in the LCI models of the M4 or something...

Am I gonna need some kind of Y cable made that uses 4 pins instead of the 3 that is being talked about throughout this thread?

Thank you in advance!

It's not directly plug and play...go on EBAY and search for the adapter plug one side is 4 pins and the other is 3 pins. You can see a picture of in in this particular thread.

That on3 isn’t OEM or close to it, it’s the china blue and orange.

The china blue orange bpillars are easier to install and a better design than OEM, and easy to convert to white. This thing? I’d return and get the real one if you can.

Now you've got me rethinking... are the non-oem ones really that bad in comparison? Would like to hear more of peoples opinions!

Frequently have 4 pin connectors, or are wired wrong, and are always the wrong color. OEM are cheap enough to not deal with the china ones or having to solder 603 5k smd leds into them to fix the color issue.

Technically it should....when I bought mine from ECS tuning, it said the part numbers were the same...Mine never specifically said F36 it was a F30 chassis part that was compatible.

Has anyone got any feedback on what resistor values to use to dim this upgrade to be more in line with the rest of the ambient lighting. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Classic/sport

I did This mod along with the ambient led door strips. I have classic/sport mode on I drive but the LEDs only
Work on orange.
They go dark when I switch to sport mode. All
Plug and play and everything is correctly
Wired as far as I can tell. Any ideas?

If you had to tap the foot light connection for power, it is the pinout on your connection, it won't work with both colors, only one. Depending on who you got the connection lead from will determine what color will work, either one or the other, but not both. If you connected it the normal way, by the dashboard power lead, chances are, it is also the vendor who sold you a cable that is incorrectly pinned.
