The car that should have been but never was

This is the car that fans were clamouring for BMW to build for the road. That ship has sailed on that one but hopefully BMW will surprise us with something special now that it is racing across multiple formats and series.

I really don’t care what powers the car as long as it leaves it’s rivaks in the dust.

My prayers have been answered, BMW should take a note of, what PEOPLE really want, Carbon fibre Lightweight body, Mid Engine V8, Turbo or not, they decide. All in all it should weigh 1200-1500 kg, 500hp per Tone.

I thought I am over the S65 and the S85 a long time ago... but man how could BMW dump all thisss noise all of a sudden. At least keep the F1 roar alive for a couple of generations

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

I agree. Do you remember that they originally had it as hybrid electric diesel before US market had them switch to hybrid gas electric? If BMW could fit a fully electric motor with 60-100kwH battery that would be amazing.

We have the 8 series now so I think the i8 should stay its green course, hope bmw contiues to advance it and brings nice i5, i3 etc

That's correct. Electic/diesel was the original powertrain. Allegedly they switched to gas because diesel emissions standards couldn't met*. Personally I think surveys suggested that buyers would turn away from a diesel.

*Difficulty maintaing operating temp of the SCR catalyst.

This thread is stupid. An ugly silhouette race car that has nothing to do with the BMW i8 (other than ripping off the name). Great. Now we have a bunch of dreamers clamoring on about how "this is what the i8 should have been!" Ummm no. Then, it would not be called the i8, folks.

So you want BMW to make a mid-engine NA supercar? Okay. But let's leave the God forsaken i8 out of that conversation, please!

One thing is for sure here. The privateer who made this abomination is a trolling master. Can we please close this thread so the additional comments won't add to my headache?

Well at least it's compelling that's a step in the right direction.

Cool, all that work for nothing considering the rod bearings will fail, unless BMW has quietly addressed the issue in-house leaving everyone else to fend for themselves.
