Boostedphil698 You need to write a complaint and send it to painspections@state.pa.us Idiots like your dealer need to be reigned in and prevented from sealing money.

Imagine the following situation - accident, you are trapped inside, doors not opening. Try and break the windshield with a film on it (with or without tint) to evacuate before you blow or suffocate. Good luck! You are dead.

==> the reason why film of any kind is forbidden on front windows and windshield in civilised countries.

Lmao windshields are lamianted and a tint on them won't make it function any differently. You're blatantly wrong here.

On the side windows? Yes it will in effect "laminate" the tempered glass. Windshields are not the same.

Might have to do that.

What does this "clear tint" the OP has on his windshield do, exactly? Is it actually totally clear or is it that 80-85% anti-heat stuff that looks clear in daylight, but sucks at night. (You may guess how I know).

Also, don't have too much tint on the driver's or front passenger window and get stopped by a motorcycle cop here in NV. Most of them carry a device to measure your tint and will give you a fix-it in heartbeat.

Cops don't stop you here if you aren't being sus. The clear on my windshield rejects UVA/UVB rays.

We have other dumb things when it comes to tint, here in NY. Vans and SUV's can be tinted in all rear passenger windows. Sedans? Nope. Just the rear window. That's it. Why? Well because SUV's and Van's are guided by federal tint laws and sedans are regulated by state tint laws. But . . . this makes absolutely no sense in the real world. Vans and SUV's are blacked out. Sedans will fail inspection with the same tint. It's profiling . . . saying Sedan drivers are more dangerous for police on traffic stops?

Anyway . . I would LOVE to spend my days going around and taking photos of police officers (personal vehicles) and local politicians (personal vehicles) that violate these laws and submit them to DMV and demand their inspection be void immediately and whomever passed them is fined. Fair is Fair. Rules be Rules for all .. not some
yea you can thank the police union for lobbying for such a jackass law

Tint falls under the "sun screening" category of 175.263. Paragraph (a) only calls out the requirement of visibility into the car.
As an anecdote, I argued this in court after getting a citation around 12 years ago, and the judge proceeded to look up that vehicle code. She sided with me because the officer couldn't say "no" to the judge's question "if I go outside right now, will I be able to see into the vehicle?" to which I answered yes.
The judge did say she couldn't prevent me from being ticketed immediately on my drive home.
Hasn't happened since, and I stick with 30% tint.

That's my exact argument! Anyway, my family mechanic that works on my Honda and the BMW indy mechanic I use said that they don't care about tint so I'll just use one of them. My mistake to use the dealer.
