Paint protection

Hi guys,

So judging by discussion on the Oz forum, most paint protection is pretty pointless apart from Opticoat?

Anyone here tried it? Any recommendations for people to apply it? Ideally in the Midlands!

I've read quite a bit about them. I reckon if you don't intend waxing your car regularly then its probably a goer.

That's the thing, apparently this will. It's 100 times thicker than other stuff and acid resistant etc.

The second guy actually recommended it in a later post. Nothing is full proof but it seems like the better option.

i don't believe it's any products acid or corrosive resistance that stops bird crap from marking the clear coat.

ime the clear coat gets 'wrinkled' by adhesion... after the wet bird crap drys and shrinks stuck to the clear coat.
the best defence is to have a slick surface, so that as the crap drys it doesn't grip the paint surface but slides across it.

i regularly wax my car with HD wax, the only time bird crap ever marred the surface was when i first got the car before i'd had chance to clean, decontaminate, clay and wax it.

With my new car iminenet and getting earache from SWMBO I've ventured over to detailing world for some info.

One of the toughest sealants seems to be the ceramic ones. Cquartz comes up and I think it's mentioned on the main forum by our friends from across the pond. Might be worth a look

Why's SWMBO giving you earache? I thought women don't want us to spend money on cars?!
