Head Unit Type
Just bought a 2014 320i a few days ago. I've been playing with bimmercode app to modify some things. I've got Enhanced BT working. I have a questions as I am SUPER confused.
According to most things I've read as of 2014 all 3 series should have NBT. My build date, after decoding vin, is 12/10/13. When reading bimmercode I only have module HU_CICHB. Nothing related to NBT. I do have a combox in the trunk. I noticed there is an entry available for headunit model. It currently says "entry" but gives me the opportunity to change to CIC, NBT, etc. Could this be why it doesn't see NBT? Also, I try playing a DVD and it doesn't read anything. Do I just have a CD player? Also, given the information above is it possible for me to play video via USB? I have the 6.5" display. Finally, it seems I have the option for TPMS readings of individual tires. S2VBA is listed as an included option. When I enable TPMS in bimmercode it shows on the display, but with no values. Any help would be appreciated. |

I am also interested in how to upgrade. 3 weeks after buying my first BMW, a used 2014 328i, my screen went to displaying only the BMW logo, radio turns on but I can not change the station and radio turns itself off after approximately 3 minutes. I have been told by two independents and one dealer: 1. Radio is the problem (head unit?); CID is the problem (by dealer with $4300 replacement cost), and; head unit is the problem, with $$1600 fix. Online retailer advises that I have a CIC “Entry” unit based on VIN. If I am going to spend money, I would at least like to upgrade to a version that can use Apple Car Play I don’t need navigation, as I do that through my iPhone. Any experience with upgrade of entry unit would be much appreciated.
