Road_Map_AUSTRALIA_NEW_ZEALAND_EVO 2021

Have BMW released the 2021 Map for Australia yet?

BMW site only lets me download 2020-1 but I have seen some sites selling 2021-1

I have the same issue and my paid map subscription will expire in about a month so at least want to get the latest before then. I've seen pictures from vehicles so it certainly seems legit.

Mine shows as:

Code:
142193.3.211
Road Map AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND EVO 2020-1
NBTevo_U19384I
Anyone know why the BMW app doesn't let me download 2021-1 and only shows 2020-1 as it's clearly been released?

Edit: I have emailed the generic info@ email address. See if I get a useful response.

My understanding is that you still need the FSC (some sort of key/certificate) that's specific to the VIN. At least for my 08/2016 ID5 car.

e.g. my 2020-1 update has a file called FSC_<7 digit serialnumber>_0124005B.fsc in a fsc folder on the USB.

The sellers selling maps usually are just providing the bare maps but you still need this FSC.

Pretty much a stock answer from BMW, although they did at least reply (eventually)

Dear Mr. Shonky,

Thank you for your e-mail dated 02.07.2021.

Please be advised that BMW Australia is still on going with the roll out of the latest map version which is Road Map AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND EVO 2021-1.

Therefore, we kindly ask you to try to uninstall the Download Manager and reinstall it again to check if it the new version will be available to download for your vehicle.

Here are the steps for the process of updating the Map for your vehicle:

1. Go to https://www.bmw-connecteddrive.com.au and log-in to your account with your BMW ConnectedDrive credentials.
2. Select your vehicle and then select "Remote Cockpit".
3. Select "Control" then scroll down the page.
4. Select "Map Update".

The download may take up to an hour and it is important to use an empty USB pen that has a minimum size of 32GB, maximum 64GB and format FAT32.

A prompt will appear for the program BMW Download Manager, in which you will select the Operating System of your computer or laptop whether it is a Mac or Windows.

5. Download and install the BMW Download Manager (Please do note to Run the program as an Administrator).

Once installed, log-in to the BMW Download Manager with your BMW ConnectedDrive credentials as well.

6. Select your vehicle in the Download Manager.
7. Confirm and download Road Map Navigation (The download may take up to an hour and the file may be compressed).
8. Save the file to the USB pen and make sure to unzip the file.

In some cases an activation code will appear in the last download step (Please take note of this code as you will enter it in the vehicle when installing the Map Update).

9. In the vehicle, it is necessary to turn on the ignition.
10. Insert the USB pen with the downloaded Map Update into the USB slot at the center console.
11. A prompt will appear on the screen and Wait for the update to complete.
12. After successful upgrade, a message will be displayed then confirm with "OK".

We hope that this information will guide you and let you enjoy your BMW ConnectedDrive services.

Answers to your questions regarding BMW ConnectedDrive, such as the ConnectedDrive Store or the USB map update, can be found at faq.bmw.com.au at any time.

The satisfaction of our customers with ConnectedDrive is of great importance to us, therefore we kindly ask you to complete the survey:
I had already uninstalled and redownloaded with the same results. Two different computers also produce the same results.

Likewise, seems strange NEXT is released but EVO has no love. Will ask the service guys if they can update when it's next in

That is quite a bitch considering that the current 2020 evo maps are not very usable for Brisbane residents planning trips north or south of the city.

Hi Shawn,

This thread is for EVO not ROUTE

On the BMW download manager BMW AUstralia does not have the 2021 available.

Pretty dodgy by BMW as it is available, I purchased mine from Gerry but in reality I should have been able to download it for free from BMW, just didn't want to wait.

I'm glad I did as I live in an area that has quite a few streets.

2021 is a big improvement to addition of new streets and it has fixed some of the speed limit data

Yes, I know it is, but he needs ROUTE not EVO, and this I know as he also sent me a PM with his VIN.

Yes the 2020-1 map is quite bad. Pacific highway south to Sydney has major holes due to roadworks. For some reason they deleted the old road so there's no complete route without hundreds of ks of detours. Similarly to the Sunshine coast. Whilst you may not really need that kind of direction as the roads are easy enough to follow, the maps should be better.

Also BMW Connected Drive support did ask me to submit my details through the app to diagnose the issue. That was about a week ago and haven't heard anything yet. My subscription runs out in a few weeks so I want to push them to fix it before then.

Yes I can see them too now. Strangely I received an email saying support were still working on my issue just this morning... go figure. So whether my request caused anything to happen or just a coincidence, who knows?

Anyone know if the maps are much better? As noted above 2020 had some big holes in my area of the world (Brisbane).

Well 2021 looks pretty crap still. Pacific Highway still has massive gaps as does the Bruce Highway hesding north. I fail to see why they completely deleted the old roads and left place holders in for the new ones which it won't route on.

I know these major routes don't usually need routing for many people but it does mean you simply can't trust it when in an unfamiliar area or it will take some bad or long way. eg Brisbane to Sydney it calculates as 1800km

I note it also says it was generated in January 2021 so why it took so long to be released is anyone's guess.
