F30/B58 Coolant Leak through vent?
The dealership mechanic of more than 10 yrs experience told me the F30 uses alot of coolant and that the coolant leaks through a vent or valve on the engine. Can anyone confirm where this valve may be? It is a bit difficult for me to believe that an existing vent would allow coolant to escape through the cap or turbo bearings.

My dealer told me that normal operation for the coolant is to shoot out of the bleeder screw when the car gets hot
i wouldn't trust anything they say regarding coolant loss. I tried to get mine diagnosed and they claimed that if it's not losing all it's coolant within 30 days, they won't do more than a visual inspection for leaks. I was pretty disappointed in that response. |

The first time I came last year, they gave the same excuse "it might have been underfilled at the factory." They have a huge jug in the drive through lane and they top you off then send you along your way. They tell me come back if it drops again, but this time they say it's over 30 days later so no investigation will be done (for free under warranty, i can pay for more testing if I want). The best part is that I told them the tank was dry, but when i dropped it off they claimed it's between min and max. Well no kidding, you guys zipped it back to the garage as soon as I came in. The car is still warm so of course it reads high. Who doesn't wait to check levels until the car is cool? So now I'm looking into renting a leakdown tester or other options to diagnose myself. |

They do pressure test the coolant system. I guess they attach at the radiator cap. Will a pressure test be able to find a leak at the turbo chra?

A number of people including myself have reported coolant loss in our B58's. No leaks present. A lot of people have traced it back to a poor sealing cap on the coolant tank, nothing more. Try to get it replaced under warranty.
