The power gains are minimal at stock power levels but as you tune it you'll get more power with the intake, and it sounds great. I don't think any B58 intake is CARB approved for California though.

Is there a dyno test (other than BMS claims) to prove that?

Stock is better for performance. The best upgrade that I've seen is the Dinan intake with a big cone filter in a bigger enclosed box, but it's too expensive imo.

Cooler air is more important than less restriction in terms of power and reliability.

Someone made a point in another thread that was a good one. Dyno runs with an open hood can hide the benefits of maintaining an enclosed system. Draggy times would be more informative (or doing dyno runs with the hood closed, though not really recommended).

I've seen dynos floating around but 1/4 mile trap speeds are the best way to evaluate real world power gains.

I liked my BMS intake. Spot on fitment and sounded pretty good. Priced well so If i had to buy a intake again i would probably get the BMS.

I like BMS because of the sound and super easy installation. Hasn't thrown any codes yet. I like that you can clean them or just replace the filter. At $60 for just the filter, I just replace it once a year.

I have an N55 and went with a closed style intake just because I don't like the idea of it sucking hot air from the engine bay. on turbo cars I have read that it doesn't really matter because of the intercooler or heat exchanger taking care of the higher temps that wouldn't exceed what is coming from the hot ass turbo/exhaust gasses anyway. and although I didn't notice more power, I did notice quicker throttle response and a bit more sound.

AC Fabrication posted dynos that showed open air intakes making 5-10 HP increase on this car

I do a combination. I have two filters, so when one needs cleaning, I have a clean/oiled one ready to go which means I can swap immediately. So the car is still drivable while washing/drying/oiling the other one.

I'm also happy with BMS. Easy installation and nice sound! No codes.

Same here. I'm doing this for over a decade now. The price of a filter is not that high compared to the benefits of being able to swap the filter in a breeze.

I ran the BMS for a while and if you want more intake noise with an easy install it's great. I'm back to a stock drop in now. I'd give it a go - maybe by a used one you can always sell it if it's not for you

For reference MP runs stock airbox and filter with all their cars and all their dyno runs.

Stock box is the way to go. I have an Arrma installed currently. Any other time it would be a K&N.

It's good. Not any noticeable difference than the K&N.

That design is really cool. It really focuses on the key: maximizing surface area in an enclosed box. I just think the K&N ripples compensate for the same thing. That's probably why there wasn't a big difference.

Do you have a link to the Arma intake that fits the b58?

No, but you could go on their website and search. It's kind of hard to find.
