Check Engine Light Help

Hi everyone,

I did an FBO on my 2014 435 with VSRF high flow cats...after I got the cats on and install Mhd 2+, started getting CEL after a hard pull. First I got the code 12A308 and 12BE08. Clear it once and now the only code I get every so often is 12A308.

Is this just the life of high flow cat or is something else wrong?

Assuming those are the CELs for catalytic converter, yes, that is normal. VRSF does not guarantee no CEL for their catted DP. Only CG Precision and Fabspeed run with no CEL to my knowledge. I wouldn't expect a $400 catted DP to work without a CEL; even ER and others in the $800 range trigger CELs.

On another note, how is the sound/smell with the VRSF catted DP compared to stock?

I'm a little bummed that MHD doesn't auto clear that CEL

I have an R32 with catless pipes and the smell is much less here. The sound is what I think the base 534 should sound like, and I think with muffler delete or aftermarket catback, it should be amazing.

Using the MHD monitoring module, since you said you flashed MHD. If you did not purchase it already, you will need to purchase the monitoring module, connect your device to the car, open the monitoring/data logging part of the MHD app, and take a log. Honestly, you should be doing logs right after you flash any tune to make sure the car is doing OK. I suggest you do a bit of research into data logging if you arent even aware of how to take a log but yet you flashed the Stage 2+ tune already.

Basically, log from 2500-6500 RPM at WOT with DSC fully off in 3rd gear if MT or 4th gear if AT. If doing manually logging, start the log a second before going WOT and stop a few seconds after. Auto logging sort of does this for you, but i always do it manually. A 1-2-3 or 1-2-3-4 log always helps too. Make sure you check nearly all the parameters to log in the app settings. Check MHD documentation and/or the numerous threads for more info.

MHD does have an option to clear cat CELs... again, read the documentation. There is a box you check under the flash options. Or rather, uncheck if not using stock cat.

Did uncheck that, it'll clear it out once and then it just goes right back on the next time I do a hard pull.

Its most likely a code from the downpipes.. Most catted downpipes will still throw a CEL.
