428 with MPE more pops in eco?

I have been driving lately in eco mode with the paddle shifters. And I notice the exhaust pops a ton more. Why wouldn't it do this in sport mode instead?

The driving mode essentially changes the fuel and airflow mixture (along with active suspension) to gain power or add fuel efficiency. That said, the logical answer to me would be this change + downshift/high rev. = burbles.
