car beeps when locking with engine running

Car beeps when locking with engine running.

From 2017 any software update on car brings this crappy feature, with engine running when locking car it beeps (TWICE).
It is annoying and i do not want piss off neighbours i the morning, around 5am, when leaving car to worm up before work when it is cold.
Same during the summer when kids or dog left in car for few minutes.
My local dealer try to switch it off but keeps coming back ass active.
Only had it done on 218d GT, 65plate, but with old software after some playing up with it.
Any idea if it can be switched off by codding off outside dealer, ie bimmercode?

Yes you can code it out:

FEM module I think, look for CLM_HORN_AT_SECURE and toggle to nicht_activ

Yes it can be coded out (or even coded on older cars). It shows as an option on our F30 320d and F06 640d.

Yeah I noticed this exact same thing recently.
Shit feature designed to annoy the neighbors...

Especially when it's really cold, it's nice to get into a clear screened car with the heated seats at temperature...

You can also code it out with Bimmercode if, like me, you don't know where to start with 'proper' coding. You just need the Bimmercode App and a V-Gate OBD dongle. I've used v3 and v2 of the V-Gate dongles and found that only the v2 worked.

Really annoying when you want to lock the car when the engine is running. Mine started after a software update.

The solution is to shut the drivers door and hold the remote against the glass whilst you lock the car. That stops the horn beeping.

I can’t claim credit for this solution - somebody else posted the solution on here a while back.

You can disable it with esys/Carly/bimmercode but for me it seems pointless. Leaving an mppsk'd car on the drive idling will be far more annoying than a couple of beeps

Mine doesn’t do that and it’s been serviced twice since 2017.

Just did this on mine last week with Bimmercode.
Wifey gets the car out of the garage then locks it with engine running while locking the garage. It was bugging her that it beeped as it was bound to be annoying to the neighbours at the early hours when she goes out. Killed it with a single button push

This 100% works. Just hold the key to the glass and lock.

Might depend on the age of the car for some reason. Doesn't work with my 2012 F31. Bimmercode is quick and easy and makes sure that the car never beeps on lock with engine running.

Personally I think it’s a great feature and I have it enabaled. Mainly due to lack of attention but on a few occasions I’ve parked up (thinking I’ve turned the car off) but actually not. Silly I know but works for me!

Works on my 66 plate. You have to hold the remote against the glass in the centre of the drivers door window. Press the button and then wait for a second before taking it away.

TBH

I’d rather a beep than a fine for leaving my engine running whilst the vehicle is unattended fine 😔

The chances of someone getting fined for having their car engine running while on their private property are effectively nil. On a public highway may be a different matter, i.e. you could get fined, but the risk is also probably low.

There are more important things to consider, i.e. making sure the car can't be stolen if left running. One of the benefits of having an AutoWatch Ghost - engine can be left running with the car locked but will cut out if the transmission is put into D or R.

it's an offence under section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 to leave it running when on a public road. Thai really annoys me too as it reminds me of my 2015 merc that beeps when I lock it.

on a plus side at least you know you pressed the button =)

Wouldn't it still be left unattended even if it's locked? I would have thought so.

We don't really do this but I might start because one of my neighbours is a complete c*nt and I have otherwise run out of ways to annoy him.

I'll try this tomorrow when I'm at work. I tried by leaving it in the corner next to the mirror but who knows. I'll give it a go.

I dont have comfort access if that makes a difference.

I'll probably code it out anyway.

I can confirm holding remote to driver front window works, it doesn't beep. LCI 16
Thanks for the solution.
