M Performance Suspension Kit (OEM)

Is this new?? I have not heard anyone talking about this. Plenty of discussion between M sport passive vs M sport active suspension but this is actually a new kit (which I believe replaces shock, wishbones, springs, (and stay bars for ppl with non M sport suspension already)).

Looks like a 10 mm drop for M Sport suspension and 20 mm for normal suspension

https://www.getbmwparts.com/partloca...catalogid=4462

Pretty expensive but OEM...

Not much popular here, but said to be quite stiff for daily driving.

Installed MPS couple years ago, really like the handling of the car with it..less body roll and lowers the car 10mm which is acceptable for my wife.

I have no doubt other aftermarket parts might be better for the performance and money wise, but I am happy with what I got.

I have the MPS as well. I had it on both my E90's as I found it to be a great street set up that is warranty friendly. seeing I bought the cars new this mattered to me. I like the MPS on the F30 but I think it was better on the E90. Or the E90 was a better platform to begin with. It has been 2.5 years in the F30 now so the comparison isn't fresh. I will say I am considering swapping out for PSS10 or KW street comfort. Not sure if it will happen though and if the price of admission will be worth it at this point.

PSS10 was my original plan..but too low and no warranty included.

The progression I see is:

1. Sport suspension

2. M Performance Suspension

3. Ohlins Road & Track

Personally, I don't see a point to bother with Bilstien PSS10 or KW V2/V3 systems. That's not to say that they're bad coilovers, they are not.

But I like the idea that at the end of the day, you can just replace the dampers on the MPS when they are worn out. With coilovers, you're looking at needing to rebuild it and that means greater than 1 day downtime for the car. Not practical for a daily driver. At that point, why not just spring for Ohlins?

I also have the MPS installed about a year ago. I pretty satisfy with the ride quality and the high.

Looks amazing! Can you share the specs on your wheels/tires? Where did you get them?

Thanks

I'm convinced that short of high end coilover systems like Ohlins Road & Track, the MPS is the way to go.

It'll feature minimal degradation in ride quality compared to a passive Sport suspension while improving handling. I don't think that you'll be getting better ride quality and handling without spending a lot more money on high end coilover systems.

As for the ride height, I believe this is about 10mm lower than the factory Sport suspension. 10mm lower is most likely the optimal drop for performance as it's the recommended drop for Ohlins R&T and AST coilovers.

I had it installed shortly after buying my CPO F30. I'm very happy with the suspension and don't find it overly harsh. As mentioned the drop is 10mm on the sport suspension but is 20mm on the base suspension, which I had.

Quick question: are the springs on the M-Performance Suspension supposed to be red?

I got mine installed recently and I noticed that they are not red.

Don't really care about them not being red just hoping they are the correct springs.

You probably have the same problem I had. My dealer didn't realize they had to order the springs separately. Got home, took a look and say the black springs. Called the dealer and they ordered the springs.

Seeking a price match I had given them a link to an online source for the parts which included the springs so we agreed they should take some of the blame for the mix up. They sold me the springs at cost and ate the cost of the install.

That's exactly what happened!

Do you know the part #s for the springs? Been looking for them everywhere but get different part #s.

I'm really interested in this too. I wonder if those spring part numbers would be listed on RealOEM...

I'll check.

I'm almost certain the M Perf Suspension is my next mod. I like that it's OEM and if there is any issue, can be replaced quickly unlike coilovers where it has to be shipped off and the turn around time is weeks.
