335d- feels like a different car this week!

After moaning a bit about my car and its handling over the winter I have to say it's been an absolute pleasure this week.

Changing from 18" runflat Pirelli winter tyres to the 19" Michelin pilot super sports has transformed it in 3 ways:

Looks much better
Handles much better
Rides much better

Which has all added up to me falling back in love with it again!

The dynamics of the car now seem in harmony with the damping, and I've gone from thinking its got tired suspension to thinking I really need to get out in some fun roads.

I realise that soon after I got the remap done in November I was on to the winter tyres, so never really got to enjoy the extra power and torque on the right roads. I think it's really helped to add an extra element of adjustability with the right foot, which has been excellent fun!
However my mph this week has been 32mpg!

I couldn't advocate any stronger that those who bought their cars with the ultimate driving machine in mind, and perhaps already gone to ACS springs, change to good non runflats.

As someone with a Bridgestone Potenza set of summers, I feel I will benefit more than most from the switch to Michelin PSS. Unfortunately my Potenzas are wearing really slowly and I probably need another April-November (10k miles) to finish them off - so looking forward to spring 2016!

Ironically, the only good thing about those tyres are that they wear very slowly.

I was glad to get a puncture last year that was the catalyst to do the change earlier, and offset the cost with the tyre insurance.

Knowing what I know now I would have made the change earlier as life's too short.

I look forward to getting a joyride with the PSS' Terry; other than my ACS control module, our cars are almost mechanically identical, so we can do some back to back comparisons to really emphasise the differences between RFT and your DMS map.

As someone who bought a set of Bridgestones (already on the wheels) after already switching to PSS - all I can say is one should NEVER go back!

New set of PSS going on now - anyone need my old ones with a little life left?

Yes I think the comparison will be very interesting! You're on ACS springs I presume?

32mpg - are you towing a train?

I get 25-27 combined when pushing mine and 32 under normal conditions

You must be enjoying it!

The other day I was driving back to the SW from Rushden and headed diagonally south towards M40 for Oxford and then onto M4. The series of roundabouts and A roads from Rushden to the M40 coupled with milder weather made for such fun. Kept getting chance to take tight roundabouts at reasonable speed and keep pushing acceleration out of them and often into a bend, and the grin factor was awesome.

I'm absolutely loving my car now too as I don't have to be quite so delicate out if bends with the right foot.

Happy Spring everyone!

Our lifetime average is about 37mpg, but yes quite frankly I've been driving it hard this week!

With the MPSS on I leave it in sport mode and have the gearstick to the left, and then when the roads are right I also put it up to Sport+

Not ideal for economy but much better for driving fun, in terms of the throttle response.

Also means that you hit 90+ in a squirt along an A-road or an overtake, if you keep your foot in.
