440i Spark Plug replacment
Hello! Iv been calling around to install new spark plugs on my 440 some shops told me not to do it as the car is to new?? I have a 2017 440i with 23k miles. Mods are Dinan tune, catless dp, awe midpipe, muffler delete, and bms intake. I bought the 2 step colder spark plugs. Should i be worried about installing these spark plugs? I would assume there is no risk as they are just spark plugs and recommended for modified n55's and b58's. The one step colder plugs arent recommended for b58 so i went 2 step. Also what should i gap them at? Never changed plugs on a modded car before.

I would personally ask who's ever tune you’re running on the gap and such. And also at least inspecting them is a great idea, don’t let any fuckstick tell you otherwise.
Spark plug is much cheaper than a motor and it can reveal potential issues so.... I’m running ngk 97506 and noticed the idle being quite a bit smoother and maybe a little up top (running pure 1/meth) You will need a special socket to remove the plugs. Other wise it’s pretty easy Hope this helps |

I'd recommend tackling this job with a 1/2" impact wrench and two reducers (1/2 to 3/8 and 3/8 to 1/4) for your spark plug socket. |

In the process of them scoping to determining what the issue was, the tech informed me that my plugs were removed with "hand-tight" effort. I do everything by the book when installing parts on my vehicles and was baffled to see the plugs loose. I clearly remembered following OEM plug torque specs. My FBO N55 may have inadvertently loosened the plugs with the power increase. When replacing the plugs, take a few extra minutes and make sure everything is tight, then recheck again. Lesson learned! |
