well..... not exactly.

im torn between a f type V8 S convertible or an M4 Convertible

the next back up is m6 convertible

the last option GTR

basically got about 40k to spend but the Pure Stage 2+ turbo upgrades on an m4 are looking rather appealing lol

A vert?! Come on, you're a young man it's too early for a mid-life

The jag is something a bit different, I have a mate with the V6S, and the GTR is obviously in a different performance league to most things. How would the stage 2 M4 stack up?

You may of seen on Cutters that an M3 with Pure Stage 2+ turbos has just out-dragged a Ferrari 812 SuperFast (which is a car with a reputation of getting its power down well) - apparently the Ferrari even jumped the start - better leave it there...

everyone should have a convertible in the house hold. its the one regret i have when i bought my 435d that i didnt get the convertible

straight stage 2 is betwne 525 to 560bhp but with teh stage 2 turbos about 650 and stage 2+ turbos 850

560 m4 is about the same as a stage 1 GTR (obviously not from a dig)

the v8 s is 480 bhp but with a pulley upgrade and map etc its 620 bhp which sounds fun lol

i dunno so torn... interview next week so depending on how that goes depends if i can go car shopping yet !

Suspiciously quiet - I hope the dealer hasn't forced the repair option.

I reckon he didn't get a refund...he always seem reluctant to push for that despite everyone telling him the car is a potential can of worms and much too expensive

Hope I'm wrong but if he did get a satisfactory outcome he'd have been on here hopefully thanking everyone for his lucky escape

Didn't see these responses.

Last Thursday the inspection by Ace was cancelled just before the Friday it was meant to be booked for. Is now down as urgent for tomorrow.

Finance company are still trying to contact the finance brokers. Nothing to do with the dealer as of yet I don't believe.

Trading standards have been informed. Or at least citizens advice consumer helpline have been made aware of the situation by myself and said they'd pass it on to trading standards. Both for the dealership and mot garage.

I just don't see the point of updating for cancellations for inspections, would rather update when it's something substantial.

I've already made it very clear I want to reject the car to the dealership and finance company,so I have pushed for it.

Have previously thanked people for their advice. That still stands.

No problem, it can always be a little difficult to interpret things on the Internet anyway.

Thank you, inspection has just been completed. Well if it can be called that haha. The person who came out to inspect the car didn't have a look round and instead asked me what the problem was, so I asked what they had been told and then explained my findings.
He had to do a 10 mile test drive and did witness the black smoke under moderate acceleration and I revved it stationary for him, as well as the strong smell of fumes outside the car.

He was quite an old guy and I don't think his hearing was great considering he seemed to mishear me the majority of the time! So I hope his report includes the relevant info.
Not too hopeful but I'll see what happens.

Thanks,
Connor.

That's just incompetent. I would be very suspicious - who appointed the 'inspector' ? Is it a recognised expert ? Who is the individual ? What's his experience/specialism ? Is he certified for vehicle inspections and evaluation ?

I'd be putting my concerns in writing immediately. Sounds like yet another layer of fudge on the situation. Grandpa Joe doesn't sound like the right person for the job.

Years ago (about 20) I had a car inspected by a MIB person for an uninsured loss. The person spent a little more than about 20 seconds looking at the car, asked me a couple of questions and then set off. His report was pretty much exactly as I'd described the damage over the phone.

The company ACE. They do vehicle examinations. I googled them for reviews and they're not great that's for sure. I phoned up the finance company when they cancelled last Friday and expressed my concerns and the fact I'd read bad reviews. The finance company said they needed an ACE inspection because I asked if there was another company they could use.

I've since phoned up a little while ago and said I'm disappointed etc and why can't they use my proof from a bmw mini specialist since it's much more conclusive. My complaints handler was busy at the time so she'll phone back. I'll raise this all again with her. But my points have all been noted and an email sent to her anyway from her colleague.

He said he'd been doing inspections and pre purchase Inspections for years. Clearly hadn't driven one of these cars before though! I hadn't prior to this but I assumed he would've been someone who was familiar with these cars. He arrived in a pretty scruffy car with no markings associated with the company so I assume they subcontract out to "engineers" across the country.

I've also sent in a video to the finance company of the black smoke when revved stationary as they would in an emissions test. Just for further proof.

The 8 week period isn't up yet but it feels like it's dragging out. I'm not happy with how this has all been handled.

Thanks,
Connor.

You'd have thought an inspection would consist of more than just Grandpa Joe taking the car for a spin without his hearing aid in.... Possible onset of early dementia had caused him to forget it on this occasion.... He'll probably forget to write the report.
Or maybe he's such an expert he can tell if a cars had the dpf removed just by driving it.
Sorry to see this is being dragged out mate, hope things are resolved soon

Update time.

Dealership has finally agreed to take the car back and an unwind is able to be carried out.
Took a lot of time for the finance broker to get back to the finance company I started the unwind with.

I phoned up the finance company Monday and expressed my disappointment with everything so maybe that spurred them on a bit. Just waiting for a phone call from the company arranged to collect the car.

When the car is back at the dealership I'll be able to get a refund from the payments I've still been making, plus the finance company have compensated me a little for having to get alternative transport.

So I'm glad it's all nearly over.

Thanks,
Connor.
