CarPlay disappearance

As a head's up!

I haven't see anything about this on this site but there is an issue with CarPlay disappearing with the latest software update on IDrive. I updated IDrive last month on my car and lost both CarPlay and the BMW Hotspot that were part of the car at purchase. After a visit at my dealer I was told by a tech that BMW are aware of this issue but there is no fix at this time.

Have you tried updating services in the connected drive menu?

That's how Carplay dissapeared. The service tech at the dealership told me it's a known worldwide issue and BMW is looking for a fix but to date haven't found it.

My recommendation right now is to not update if you have Carplay.

You'll have to wait till BMW sort out their provisioning server.

Hi all,

I have a 2018 BMW 530i (G30) and my car equipped with Apple Carplay from the factory (6AP).

Suddenly apple Carplay disappeared.. I haven't performed any update my self (unless the car did the update online)...

Is there any update regarding this issue??

Thanks!

At least there is an acknowledgement of the problem. Having been in executive roles leading large software engineering organizations, I continue to be reminded how inadequate the state of software testing really is.

I test software for a day job and I'm reminded daily how executives in large corporations have no fucking idea about how little time is allotted to the Unit, System & User testing functions, yet apportion all blame on Test when there are issues after a rushed release.

Well - the good news I am not one of them. :-). I like all critical components enjoy 99 percent coverage by automated tests, build to build verification tests and automated scalability tests as well.
