Easiest way to tell if your phone can get messages through iDrive is to look into your bluetooth menu on your phone and see if "send notifications" is there and able to be checked off. |

This is only partially correct. The "Send Notifications" on/off switch should only show up in the Bluetooth "i" menu under your specific car's Bluetooth device name (usually "BMW [xxxxx]" only if your car has 6NS. However, iDrive must also allow you to check "Messages" when configuring your smartphone for BMW Office; in my car, this is not possible because iDrive recognizes iOS 8.3 and removes the option.

On iOS devices using iOS 8.x, Messages DO show up on the iDrive display. You just have to tell your iPhone to send them there. Go to Settings / Bluetooth, then tap the little "i" that appears to the right of your paired BMW. A new screen will appear with options listed: Forget This Device; Show Notifications; Sync Contacts, etc. Switch "Show Notifications" to the "on" position, and you'll be all set. For some reason iOS ships with this option turned off (probably for privacy reasons).
I did this after upgrading to iOS 8 and it worked like a charm.

Question for two-BMW families - do you have both vehicles on the same BMW remote/BMW assist/connected drive account? Or one account per car/driver?
Second BMW is on order and I'm not sure if I need or want a second login for me. |

No complaints here, I was able to log into my account, remove my old 3er (BMWAssist could never actually get the car out of my profile and thus, out of the BMW Remote US app), I just did that now.
If I wanted to add 3 years to RTTI, that is an easy $150 charge. It's not the most useful piece of kit, but long overdue and I look forward to the ease and simplicity of adding my next car to the profile. Nice work BMW. |

Following the industry current password algorithm, I used a combination of #'s upper and lower case lettering + special characters. Works Without Flaw. 😄

If you wanted to delete them immediately, you'd have to press the "Option" button (at the base of the iDrive knob) then choose delete. In my version of iDrive, I can only delete messages one at a time, which is a little frustrating, so I stopped deleting them, and just choose to let them "disappear" when I disconnect my iPhone (read: stop driving and walk away from car). Hope this info helps.
