I don't have an issue with BMW offering this "edition". If you think it's stupid, don't buy it.

What I don't understand, is BMW increasingly restricting options and packages with specific color schemes. It's a turn off from a consumer perspective.

Agreed. Case in point can't get 340 without sunroof has to be a 330 or lower model.

No how about pics of the fabric/leather seats or it didn't happen - anyone??

That's a local (BMW NA) decision. Different in other markets. We (in the UK) don't get a sunroof unless we specifically add it as an option.

BMW NA seem to be more into packages, from my observation. I assume that is what your local market prefers.

I believe you can get sunroof delete option from BMW NA. A friend of mine got his M235 with sunroof deleted. Not sure on the 340 tho.

They really need to release the next gen.

I'm currently shopping an '18 340i against an S4 and XE S and the 340 just seems dated in comparison. Could also be that I'm used to the BMW interior from my 235 but I just don't get any kind of "special" feeling from the 3.

340i - above average at everything, not great at any one thing

S4 - gorgeous interior, feels more upscale and comfortable, cheapest (according to my config) with best residual rates of the 3 cars

XE - great sound, no turbo lag because supercharger, double wishbone front suspension, interior felt cheap though

I am convinced BMW will never recover from this stupid management. Does anyone in marketing really think this initiative is a great idea?

Definitely not a ripoff-same cost as upgrading to the 18" wheels for the non M Sport equipped car in the US market for the 328d, 330i/e. Actually a nice value proposition for folks who can't swing the M Sport package and would be swapping out to bkgs anyway. I still like the M Sport for the firmer suspension (on a RWD model), but I'm sure I'll sell plenty of Shadow Sport Edition trimmed cars.

Not in the US. I wish I could get 'em...the M Sport cloth/alcantera seats you can get in Europe make me jealous.

The M235i was the first with a sunroof delete option for the US in recent history outside of true M cars. Many models have a sunroof delete for '18, depending on packaging!!!

It sells cars, that is what BMW are in business to do.

I'm all for "the more options the better", gives us choice. We can say 'yes' or 'no'.

Is it just me or does the f30 and LCI front end look kind of weird how short it is from the bottom of the bumper to the top of the hood and the way it droops down? Always see them driving around and rarely see a good angle of the front, the head on pic comparing he two looks bad for the f30 imo

What's the big issue here? Nice features, looks great and wears that color well.

This isn't new though, every 3 series has that characteristic. A stock 3 series is not an amazing track car/handling machine nor is it an ultra plush highway cruiser, it's does both pretty well though.

BMW best of those 3 by a mile. Get the 340 with Msport package, Msport brakes and wheels. Do it in Alpine white over the red leather interior with the cube aluminum trim. Load it up with all the options. That configuration is absolutely amazing - ask me how I know.

Beautiful ride - and I agree! I?m on my third F30 now and have had an E90 before that as well and I love these machines - perfect blend of driving dynamics and luxury when spec?ed right.

If you don?t like it don?t buy it, but to make a last year edition isn?t really a BMW management thing - pretty much everyone does it so makes sense

Are these special editions available in the US? If so post#1 does say this:
"Sports seats in fabric/leather and interior trim strips in the new variant Dark Aluminium Carbon ...."

Seems slightly tacky but I think the F series will age well. The current gens seem more similar in shape to the E46/E39 stance wise than last. Can't wait to see the new gen.

So my question is, the recent 2018 pricing guide and changes are going to change again for the three series in the United States. So I've waited an additional month I could've gotten cloth/leather seats that I would've preferred, yet there was no information on this anywhere

I have to say I'm not impressed with BMW by how they're doing these updates. I'm not sure what my 2018 340i that was just built and will be delivered in the next 10 days will differ in appearance

I have to admit this is kind of frustrating

I'm also a fan. The F30/F80 shape is still beautiful to me (Audi is way too boring).

If waiting another 2 months is an option, then just cancel the upcoming delivery and re-order the fabric seats as desired.
