Best Axle Back Exhasut

Hi everyone. I'm in the market for an axle back exhaust. I currently run the Dinan Midpipe to the stock exhaust. I'm looking for a deeper, more guttural tone if possible? Anyone have any suggestions?

I have MPPSK on B58. I opted for a 5” Catless DP for a deeper tone. Not by much but still noticeable side by side with a 4.5” Catless DP. I have the full cat back piping, no mid muffler or resonators, with the M Performance Exhaust. I like it, but I’ve thought about just piping the Axle Back with Stainless Steel. Still undecided as I’m looking for wheels first.

My friend with a N55 opted for a Catless DP, muffler delete with a X pipe. Sounds quite deep.

Depends what engine you have also. My B58 had a deeper tone stock than my friends modified N55.

there’s not many options for retaining valve. i like remus, there’s a guy on classified selling a modified remus axle back for a dinan mp. i think he’s local to you too.

I saw that and it would have been perfect, but it looks like he sold it.

The Valvetronic axleback sounds pretty good and retains the valve.

REMUS is the most popular with our customers, it retains stock valves

Don’t know if the Remus will bolt up to the Dinan MidPipe?

Not a direct bolt up. Have to either weld or expand the remus pipe. Sorry you missed mt set-up by about 2 weeks

This was w/catless dp. I preferred catted, but both are nice and deep with no drone. By far best sounding b58 setup, but ofc I'm biased. Happy to help guide you if you decide to retrofit.

Ugh I'm so mad that I missed your sale! Thanks a lot for the vid, it sounds great. I'm catless as well with the Dinan midpipe. I don't mind grabbing a pipe expander and making it fit. Does it line up with the midpipe, or do I have to make some slight bends to get it to fit?

You're welcome. It lines up perfectly. The problem is that the dinan midpipe is expanded on the axle end and the Remus is designed to slip over the stock midpipe (cut). I had to cut the wider end of the dinan mp off (about 3-4 inches) and then expand the Remus pipe to slip over the modified Dinan mp. I would heat the Remus pipe if you go down this route. The steel is stiff and it ended up cracking on me when I went too far with pipe expander and impact gun. I welded the crack and it rocked on for 35k miles, with no problem.

I do have the stock mp at home still if you want to gut it and use it instead.

Hey man I really appreciate the offer and the help. I'm not sure I want to mod the Dinan MP at the moment. I just installed it and the thought of cutting it up is holding me back from pulling the trigger on the REMUS axleback. I'm pretty sire the Dinan axleback lines up and fits the Dinan midpipe, but I'm not sure how it sounds and no valves is a bummer. I wonder if any other valved axlebacks line up with the Dinan midpipe and just slip in... I have to look into that.

I bought the Active Autowerke cat back, and the left exhaust tip is an elbow that clamps onto the muffler. I just cut out the valve from the OEM exhaust and welded it onto the elbow. Works great. Car is quieter when I want it, louder in sport mode.

aFe also makes a valved exhaust for the 340/440. I can't say I've ever seen anyone talk about it.

I have the Dinan axle back installed on my 435i currently (stock system otherwise). I am happy with it and don't miss the valve at all as it does a good job at staying quite tame unless you get on it. I took my parents out of town to pick up their new truck a couple weeks ago and my Mom did not complain that it was too loud, in fact she was rather glad I have a "quiet, grown up" car now.

I know the B58's sound a bit different, but here's a sound clip of mine earlier this summer;

Dinan is a mild upgrade in sound, its one of the few exhausts that do not need valves in my opinion.

Got my dinan midpipe and active autowerke axle back from x-ph. Ended up cutting and then expanding the dinan pipe to make it all fit.

Mostly a forgotten option: BMW MPE for the 335i has the valve on one side:

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/18302354340/

You'll need an adapter made up to line up with your midpipe
