Different map versions often arrive at different times, nothing to be overly concerned about imo.

My 430i was in for its first oil service 17/5/21 despite only having done 1600 miles due to COVID lock down (5/19 build, registered 31/10/19 & bought by me 2/20 with 19 miles). I understand that map updates are free while the car is under 3 years old so asked the dealer if they could do one while the car was with them. When I collected the car they told me this had been done.
1. Is there any way I can check this has been done? 2. I am aware from YouTube that I Drive software updates can be done via the BMW web site using a USB: can owners update maps in the same way if they have a current Connected Drive account? 3. I have read on the internet map updates are "automatic" while there is a current Connected Drive account linked to the car but this might only apply to I Drive 7 systems. Not being very computer confident I am weary of damaging the I Drive by trying to do updates myself hence leaving it to the dealer. |

You can check the version of map easily enough, start up navigation then press the option button on the wheel, one of the options is map version.
Easy enough to update, log in to your connecteddrive account on a PC, follow the link for map updates and install the map update utility. You'll need a 64GB USB stick freshly formatted. Just follow the instructions. When the download process is complete and the data written to the USB stick just plug into the car, the idrive should recognise it and start loading, pretty self explanatory really. You can even start it running and turn off part way through, next time the car is started it will pick up where it left off |
