No it won't clear the light. Just get Tool32 FFS, it will take 5 minutes to sort and you can get on with enjoying your car.

Ok guys im driving myself and my friend at BMW crazy with this issue. ok so heres my story. my steering wheel was bought from a seller on ebay from Lithuania. the cars there are single stage airbags that wont work with US spec cars. so the seller happened to have some dual stage airbags available and he shipped everything to me. Heres a picture of my non sport airbag connectors before the swap. you can see the yellow connectors and the wires that go into it and that extra blue plug attached to it.



Now heres the airbag i got, "dual stage" you can see it clearly but the yellow connector has less pins going into it. doesnt match my stock one, it does plug in but i get the airbag error on my dash. toom it to my friend whos a mechanic at BMW he took my car inside and tried to clear the error code with their machines and it did not clear.


heres his coworkers f30 msport factory msport steering wheel airbag connector, also dual stage US spec.
different pins going into the yellow plug, not like the one i received. but the seller claims hes done plenty of these and never had an issue that i need to find a better professional to do this job. who is better than an actual BMW tech?
The seller told me hed give me partial refund so i can fix this issue here, or send it back but i dont think he knows what hes talking about. something is obviously wrong.

^ Sorry to hear of your issues. The most obvious and perhaps cynical answer is that is it a non genuine airbag and he's scamming you?
Best option perhaps is partial refund if the rest of the wheel is fine and then buy a new airbag elsewhere?

EU Spec F30's are ALL single stage yeah? I need to do this retrofit and don't want to get the wrong bloody one! I'm in the UK so any EU sale, single stage, should be OK?

Alpin3_F30 : seller is absolutely right. If you have no idea what are you doing - go to the experts - they will do. If bmw "technics" cannot code your bmw maybe its time for them to change their job - e.g. to go farming instead of "fixing" bmw's. You have 2 stage airbag with valve, thats why 6 wires. Euro single stage airbag has 2 wires, but you can easily code even it to your US spec bmw (2 minutes job), so please stop telling that someone tried to fool you and find bmw specialists. not farmers.

P.S. its not enough to code airbag module, you must code FEM also, because it will show errors (in the FEM module) about incorrect multi function steering wheel electronics (its not airbag related), but bmw experts probably havent told you about this, right?

so there IS a way to make the euro single stage airbag work with NA cars?

ACSM module, disable for drivers airbag everything except stage1. delete errors and you'll be fine.

which one is stage1? it's mostly in german...
and will this disable the side and other airbags for drivers?

fyi for everyone
i have just successfully installed and coded my m sport wheel from ebay (with european single stage airbag - id is daris77)
install was plug and play, coding in esys was straight forward.
ACSM module 3000
funktion - airbag_fahrer_stufe_2 -> set to nicht_aktiv (drivers airbag stage 2)

also need to do the same for:
adaptive_airbag_fahrer_vent

code fdl

use tool32 to reset the airbag warning and you are good to go!

for all the ppl that said it couldn't be done, that's false, as i just confirmed it's possible

What do you have to do to fix? I think I have this same airbag

Hi, I am new to this forum and looking to understand how to reset my airbag fault, 2 of the airbags havd deployed after a very minor accident. I have replaced them. From reading this thread it looks like I need to request a copy of Tool32. Will this run on Win10 with an ENET lead? Any other advice would be appriciated.

Yes Tool32, which you will get from shawnsheridan if you ask him nicely will clear the code and yes it will work with Win10

Hi everyone, sorry but is the first time in this forum.
I have to reset the airbag fault, because i change my steering wheel, but i use the car without airbag for few days.
I tryed with esys, external app but doesn't work.
Maybe i need tool32? Can i use the ethernet obd2 cable?
Is possible to erase the fault code from hidden menu?

How did you code out the errors you saw with the airbag using E-Sys?

Could you please tell me what commands you used? I bought an m-sport steering wheel with dual stage airbag and am getting 'Driver restraint malfunction' error
