Thank you Larry for checking and providing pics.

Rheingold reported the same sensors not being available when I had the IHKA3 installed.

You have heat and I do not. Interesting. I read that you retrofitted an automatic dual-zone system into your vehicle... bravo! Did you upgrade or are you still using your factory FEM_BODY and Shut-off Valve that controls the engine coolant into your heater radiator?

No I didn't change anything else. I will try to find an LCI car also for testing IHKA3 to see if it returns values or not on that sensors where we don't have values.

Hello everyone,
I managed to install IHKA3. I have not run with the car yet but the heating seats work, the air conditioning, hot temperature the power of the wind works.
I asked to a friend to use ESYS because I do not know how to flash modules separately.
I have installed hardware:
climate control panel and climate control unit: 64116820235
I have plugged the two harness between IHKA 3 and FEM A173 10B
For software
He has done that in two steps:
First step was to find IHKA 3 and code it.
But after that, climate control panel works but no fan. only heated seat works. At this steps, i didn't flash all the ECU. FEM HUNBT and HEADLIGHT and DKOMBI were not flashed.
Second steps:
He changed date production of my car to 11/15 (my original date production is 11/13) and flashs IHKA3 and FEM BODY and FEM GW.
The flash of FEM BODY doesn't work because there are some differences betwwen the two date production.
But flash of FEM GW and IHKA3 with date production11/15 succeed. and after that all works.
flash of FEM GW and IHKA3 with date production 11/15 were the tricks i think.
All works now!!!

You have replaced your Air Conditioning Control unit to change from IHKA to IHKA3.

Have any of you changed your Dashboard HVAC Conroller with a LCI unit?

Is it working properly gribouille1210

If you have not changed the Dashboard Control unit, what is the need to change to IHKA3?

That‘s the only reason why they did this all here.
They wanted to install the LCI climate controller with the changing colors.
But it is only working if you change the IHKA to IHKA3.

Then the obvious question would be did anyone actually try to transplant the LCI IHKA3 Display (NOT THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD CONTROLLER) on an IHKA unit, eliminating the need for the complete IHKA3 retrofit and coding of multiple parts?

EDIT. I ATTEMPTED TRANSPLANT. IT DOES NOT WORK AS PIC SHOW

Hi Larry,

Thanks for your reply.

I finished installing the "older" IHKA3 (64119390099) this afternoon. After updating the BTLD, SWFL and injecting and VO/FDL coding the CAFD file, I got heat!

Everything I could test appears to be working. I still need to check the rear-window defogger/defroster and A/C. Will do so when weather/conditions permit.

FYI, this IHKA3 does not display the vent and footwell temp sensors in Rheingold, as well. So it would appear at least for IHKA3 retrofits, IHKA3 cannot read the vent and footwell sensors. I can confirm, the OEM IHKA does read these temp sensors.

How would the performance of the HVAC system be affected if the IHKA3 cannot read yet requires these temp sensors?

Larry, it would be good to know if the IHKA3 in an LCI vehicle behaves the same way as in our retrofitted IHKA3. Any luck with your search?

Thanks again for your assistance.

Larry

Hi IK6SPEED,

If you are asking if anyone has taken the display panel out of an LCI HVAC Controller and retrofitted it into a non-LCI HVAC Controller, I would think this would be more challenging than retrofitting the IHKA3 into an IHKA vehicle.

The display panels appear to be sufficiently different that I believe it is unlikely the LCI panel would be plug-and-play in the non-LCI HVAC Controller application. Just a guess since I have not disassembled and compared the two HVAC Controllers.

Just a quick update on my previous post.

I can confirm my rear window defogger/defroster is working and my A/C compressor will turn on when pressing the A/C MAX button.

As it appears you are still having trouble with some sensors still not registering and now that I have a working version of both controlers, about to attempt retrofitting Display onto older unit.

If it doesn’t work, will move on to the complete IHKA3 retrofit.

EDIT: TRANSPLANT DID NOT WORK. SEE PIC

For clarification, pics from connection to 2015 IHKA3 unit to test control units before attempted transplant.
Hi IK6SPEED,

Do you still have access to the 2015 vehicle with the IHKA3? If yes, would you please use rheingold to see if the IHKA3 can read all of the temp sensors?

Thank you

Photo shows you were testing IHKA, not IHKA3.

Shouldn’t you best testing IHKA3 instead?

And did values show in IHKA prior to changes?

The photos are with the IHKA3 installed. IHKA3 is reported as IHKA in Rheingold. FYI, the pics are from Larry_bml.

Yes, I can confirm the temperature values for the ventilation and footwell sensors are reported in Rheingold with the IHKA installed.

If you still have access to the 2015 model you used to test your LCI HVAC Controller, it would be of value to determine if a factory installed IHKA3 reports the temperature values for the ventilation and footwell sensors.

Thank you

Larry

Maybe I need to play a little more with coding, but first I’ll wait for weather to be hot. Now here are 30-40cm of snow, so I don’t need AC 😂

Hi aztebmw,

Thank you very much for reading out your IHKA3.

I do not know Germany so I used Google translator. It would appear the IHKA3 does not report the temperature for the ventilation (Belüftung) and footwell (Fußraum) temperature sensors i.e. the measured value are "not available" (nicht verfügbar).

You have been very helpful. Much appreciated.
